Default what would cause my engine not to idle???

My engine won't stay idleing no matter what i do. I took it apart to clean it after water got in it. All the screws are tight, the bearings and everything is new so there can't be a air leak. Did i put the piston in backwards or something??? I put it back at the factory settings and no matter how much i richen it or lean it when i let off the trigger all it does is die. Would a bad glow plug be the problem???? Its fine when i open the throtle. Any ideas anyone? please??? if my engine went from hot to cold really fast would it have cracked my crankcase???? It did get covered with water while it was hot. I used alot of wd40 and oil when i cleaned it but i flushed it with nitro.

Are you trying to get the car to idle on the box with the wheels not touching the ground?

you said you changed the bearings, so i would go to the springs to see if they are letting the shoes to hit the bell.

Check your clutch springs for a broken one.

if its not a hung clutch shoe or a bad plug its most likely the engine has lost all of its compression..pretty good sign of a bad engine..runs at high speeds but dose not idle...

You should really look into converting over to brushless

i went to a rc nitro troubleshooting website. The first the was to see if the piston and sleeve are toast. So i removed the plug and rotated the flywheel with my finger. It says there should be at least a little resistance when it reaches TDC well there is None. my sleeve and piston are toast.

the clutch springs are brand new. So that could not be the problem. It still has compression when the glow plug is in but barely any at all when it is out. Could the new clutch springs be the problem??? And if it is the piston/sleeve would it be good just to replace that or get a new engine. Its a os vzb and the piston sleeve is about 120 bucks or 300 for a new one. Or i could just get a cheap one. But tunning is not the problem so i am capable of keeping a good engine. I am 33 pipefitter/welder/boilermaker/electrician/anything else you can think of. this makes me not happy

Did you check your idle gap? That would cause it to stall if no throttle is applied.

i would pull the piston and sleeve out of the engine...if you can push it past the point were the stroke normally stops its shot...there will be a ring worn on the inside of the sleeve were the piston stops its up stroke and starts going down..if it gose past that spot its no good..your best bet is just to send the piston and sleeve out to have it "re-sized" or pinched.its like 15-20 bucks should be good as new!

well look at the brass rod bushing and make sure theres no scoring on either end of the rod bushings...Then slip the rod on the crank and make sure there isnt any up and down play...also check the crank pin out and make sure all the chrome is still there...if its oval junk it

took out piston and sleeve. They are fine there is hardly even a ring yet. Can get the piston up a little more then halfway. There is alot of oil residue on the crankshaft from last time i cleaned it. What would be a good way to clean the engine and get rid of the oily residue??? I think that may be the prob. I also put the wd40 and AlOT of after run oil all through the engine (carb case sleeve etc.) could my carb be messed up too?
