If you have an off season like winter or something you have to spend all the time you can with her, and let her know that the racing season is your.

tell her to get a life of her own and stop trying to micro manage yours.....that's NOT what a relationship is about. And yes, if it's a problem now, just wait a year.

Poppin, yup pretty much, I learned allot though. Rc cars can be an addiction like allot of other things but is not accepted like other addictions such as golf. Obsession may be a better word. I am not saying it is a bad thing although it can be.

Most woman do not take hobbies sports etc. to the level that men do and become jealous and controlling, I could write a book about it.

Questions?? Its not just me.

LOL... reading this thread bought back all the recent memories of my wife bitching and moaning all the god damn time about my mates and our cars.

We have only recently got into the sport (12 months) and only just getting serious about racing this season. First race day. geez.. whinge... i just wont take her any more. My son loves it but.

I hope we find an agreement soon... i would hate to have to do time just for a hobby.
Just keep tellin her its cheaper than real cars.... safer too

Default uh huh...

hiya folks,

my GF and I recently attended a marriage preparation course and this is what my Pastor said.... " what you see is what you gonna get"
and "you can't change your spouse"

so keeping these 2 things in mind, you can either
1. pray real hard Jesus will intercede on your behalf
2. realise your GF will never back out of her nagging you >>> fight or flight?
3. your GF realises YOU ain't gonna back out of buggying >>> fight or flight?

cos whatever it is now, you get EVEN MORE of IT when you're married. so if she nags you now, she'll claw your eyes out when you're married...

I suggest you be the gentleman and dump her...

p.s. my GF loves that I have a hobby, and that I am good with my hands. that I can't wait to share with her how much fun I had at the track when I get home.
During heats, i use durex for both front and rear, with Hard inserts.

Sorex, i meant Sorex.

A GF that nags isnt worth having around. There are plenty of others out there that wont nag. You said GF right, not wife right? Then thats easy to kick her to the curb and replace her. Imagine if you end up marrying this broad, she will only get worse.

I would like to think I am lucky because I use to travel all over the states playing in hockey tournament, When I joined the military I got injured and had to have brian surgery so that ended my hockey career so I got into RC Cars, it is a good way to keep myself occupied so she is ok with how much ever time I spend with my RC.

I think with any relationship you have to find a balance between work, home life, and fun (racing in this case). I bring my fiance out to races and although it isn't the first thing on her priority list, she still races with me and manages to beat quite a few people in the process. In our case it isn't so much the time spent racing, it is the money I spend. She gets a little upset some months when I have spent upwards of $4000, and lthough she doesn't work and it is my money we are together which therfore allows her input. I think I have it pretty good though.....I spend tens of thousands of dollars per year on my hobby and I only get a lecture 1-2 times per month.

let me tell you where you went wrong. you didnt lay the rules down from the beginning. i told my GF from day 1: there are 3 times in a relationship. 1. is US time. 2. Me time. 3. You time. if you dont have these 3 times in a relationship, you become to dependent on one another and that is a recipe for disaster. My parents have been married for 35 years and you could see the strain because they only had US time going. since i talked to my parents about it, my Pops has taken up Karaoke, and my mom has taken up volunteer work, and their relationship has never been stronger. So you either tell her you need the 3 times, or you will have her take a dirt nap.

First let me ask how old are you guys dreaux? If your young you better grow a pair quick because if you plan on staying with her it will only get worse if you don't put your foot down now. One thing that makes a relationship work is having time to yourself and that goes for her to, if she can't understand that and respect that she has some issues. Just make sure all other bills and food are taken care of before you send money on this hobby.
