Wheel nuts backing off Losi 8ight -T RTR
I have put teflon tape on the threads and put red loctite and I have scored little grooves on the backside of the wheel nuts (as seen in RC Car Action this month) and torque them down pretty good. All that seems to hold pretty well. Are there any other tricks that will keep the 17mm wheel nuts on?

Actually Knurled Nuts are the way to go...Hotbodies or Hpi both make an identical knurled nut that literally LOCK them selves onto the rim....they take out little plastic chunks from the rims when they lock in place....ill never run a Loc tited hex again..there's no need for it.

If you are doing all these things and your still losing them, i would think something else is a problem. check your hubs to see if they are stripped

Looks good
There are applications like that on the aircraft that I work on. The only thing that whem we remove them we are supposed to use new ones. Are the Nylock nuts one time use as well or can you re use them a few times? I don't take my wheels off and on lots of times but have done so to put on my bashing tires. As for the knurled nuts. How much wheel damage do they do? is it insignificant or does it tear them up pretty bad? So far I havent lost a wheel, I check them after a couple of tanks with a 3/8 inch deep well socket setup , the 4-way wrench is useless. My son who thinks he knows more than me has thrown a wheel, kinda poetic if you ask me.

the knurled nuts aren't that bad on the rims....it takes a 1/10th of a mm off the face of the biting lip...if you take your wheels off 1000x you might need to replace the rims. ....Im with you on the nylock thing...they are really meant yo be used once then replaced or have loc tite added as they WILL back off once removed a couple time's....and i personally hate loctite on the hex's as when i go to put my cars on the set-up station the threads are nice and smooth and im not required to grad something in the drive line to prevent the hex's from spinning due to excessive loc tite all over the thread's.
