I have less then $10.00 in this homemade tire balancer. iIt has the following:
1. I used a Ford fuel line tool, (any mechanic can recognize it) drilled out the rivet, cut one end off and screwed it to the 1x4, then to the 2x4 base.
2. I used an extra hub that I had from a truggy.
3. An exacto knife handle fit perfectly inside the hub, and unbelievably perfect inside the bearings.
4. Then I used new skate board bearings.
In all, this balancer I have created rolls smooth as glass, and all for less then about ten bucks and a few minutes of my time. I know its a little ugly but it works fantastic.
Thanks, JOEHULL

I picked the Dubro Prop Balancer up for $20 on sale. And I was wondering why everyone says you need a hub? Ive used just a wheel nut and have had no problems.

I was just goofin in the garage and in about an hour of trying different things, this proved to be the best. Keep in mind the bearings are near new so it rolls super smooth.
my cousin came over today and he has a store bought balancer, he laughed b/c mine was easier, way cheaper and works perfectly.
I have to say that even I was surprised how well this contraption works
thanks, Jody

I might have to build me one of these!! A good friend of has a maching shop at his house and I will take this to him and see what he can do. I will use the same principle as you did, just clean it up a bit!! Your time and effort is much appreciated, thanx for sharing!! Are patents pending?

I will indeed remember you!! I will send you one free of charge, I think it would cost more to machine in volume(if you had to pay machinist wages) than people would pay for it!! I think we all will expect another "budget re-invention" next week.........................what do you guys(girls) think?
