2. I used an extra hub that I had from a truggy.

3. An exacto knife handle fit perfectly inside the hub, and unbelievably perfect inside the bearings.

4. Then I used new skate board bearings.

In all, this balancer I have created rolls smooth as glass, and all for less then about ten bucks and a few minutes of my time. I know its a little ugly but it works fantastic.

Thanks, JOEHULL

I picked the Dubro Prop Balancer up for $20 on sale. And I was wondering why everyone says you need a hub? Ive used just a wheel nut and have had no problems.

I guess because I am a fool who read the description on A-main, and it said I needed that, so I bought that also..Haven't gotten it yet, so I'll let you know if it was worth the extra $15

Craig,
I was just goofin in the garage and in about an hour of trying different things, this proved to be the best. Keep in mind the bearings are near new so it rolls super smooth.

my cousin came over today and he has a store bought balancer, he laughed b/c mine was easier, way cheaper and works perfectly.
I have to say that even I was surprised how well this contraption works

thanks, Jody

I might have to build me one of these!! A good friend of has a maching shop at his house and I will take this to him and see what he can do. I will use the same principle as you did, just clean it up a bit!! Your time and effort is much appreciated, thanx for sharing!! Are patents pending?

A pair of vise grips rested on the edge of a table clamped to an old hub with bearing covers removed off the bearings is my homemade tire balancer

I'm not sure what the bearings size are but they are a standard size that you would find in a skate board wheel. you can pick them up at the local surf shop, and if you dont live near the ocean, a skate shop. My future wife tells me I am to old to skate anyway (37), so I put the bearings to use.

thanks, Jody

I will indeed remember you!! I will send you one free of charge, I think it would cost more to machine in volume(if you had to pay machinist wages) than people would pay for it!! I think we all will expect another "budget re-invention" next week.........................what do you guys(girls) think?
