The Losi RE-11 is an OEM copy of the OS 2050 just like the Mugen 2042 is an OEM copy of the OS 2060. I recently started running an OS speed and I like it so far. Last time I raced I used an Ofna 2053 with a long header in a 8T 2.0 it did ok, then I switched to the med header that comes with the Ofna pipe and it ran much better. The torque was good and the top speed was not bad running at 220-230. I was getting about 9.5 min on a tank and the engine was not quite fully broken in yet. I recently purchased a Mugen 2042 and JX L shaped header. I have been told this is the winning ticket with the OS engines. I am going to test it on Fri and see how it compares.
Another great upgrade is the EB mods head button it really brings the vspecs to life.

what about a 086?? Nobody is running that? would a jp3 be better suited, been running a dynamite 86. and dont' tell me jp3 cause i just bought another 086
I was told at my lhs that the 086 was the pipe for the vspec (they didn't have a 2060, besides to expensive)

Ask your questions here and then go buy at your LHS..Dont ask them for advice anymore as they seem to be completely clueless, or the only pipe they had in stock to sell you was an 086..Go return it if you can..if not put in in your box..Its a great pipe to have to add to your arsenal, but not at all suited for the V-spec..086 pipe will be great with any engine that has 7 or more ports..which will greatly reduce your run times as well

Typically the more ports an engine has, the better the top end is. The fewer ports the better the low end. On high port engines you typically want to use a low end or midrange pipe. On low port engines(such as 3 ports) you usually want a top end pipe(086). The V-spec however is definately an exception to these rules. The v-spec has soo much top end as it is you really don't need a top end pipe. Personally I don't really focus on top end. As long as it is decent, I am fine with it. Now bottom to midrange is where you really need the power on most tracks. You can only really use the top end of most motors on very large tracks. Ok, so point is, usually a top end pipe such as the 086 is used on 3-5 port engines, not 7+ ports.

Dont knock till you try! jammin JPX .21 is one of my favorite engines.. 7 ports..high end engine, 086 pipe is just killer all around, same for the Hyper .21 8 port..I understand your theory and it is correct, but experimentation on my part has allowed me to draw my own conclusions..next time you get a top end engine in your hands try the 086 on it..WOW MOMMA!!!
