Which is more stable at speed? Buggy or truggy?
what the topic says.. Which one stays more planted and responds better to hangling at speed? Logic says truggy because there is more contact area with the larger tires, is that correct?

Buggy. Lower CG. Think full size. Chevy truck or Subaru rally car.

IMHO CG is probably pretty close between the truggy and buggy - they run the same style of chassis....not like a MT and a buggy. The only thing on a truggy that sits up higher than a buggy is the body. I would think that the extra weight of the body up top is probably offset by the weight of the wheels and tires down low.
I'm not saying that the truggy's CG is lower than a buggy's - it's just not a whole lot higher.
IMO the extra length and width and weight of the truggy would make more of a difference than the small difference in CG.

Everyone has their own backyard physics degree so I'd say you're gonna get 50/50 on the responses.
Here's my take:
Truggy. Truggy has bigger wheels and wider stance. When those big wheels get turning, cetrifugal/gyroscopic force takes over. Ever hang on to a spinning bicycle wheel and try to tilt it? It fights you and trys to stay in it's original orientation just like a gyro.
It's also longer, so it'll track straighter. I'd say CG is about the same between buggy and truggy.

truggy - wider and longer stance.
have you seen truggy to rollover when cornering at higher speeds? quite easy to rollover a buggy

I've owned and raced both. Hands down, the truggy is more stable in ALL circumstances. In a straight line, through jumps, in bumpy areas.. the truggy is just much easier to control. On the other hand, the buggy is much more nimble.

to be fair, onroad guys do not run fat tires, but they do run wide tires. you've seen the footprint of a 1/8 on-road.. wicked

i would say truggy,doesnt matter if the track is rough still stays planted

Depends on the person's driving style. Lately I have been getting quicker with my buggy because I am getting more used to it. Going to a buggy was a change from what I was used to but I think in the long run I will be quicker with one.
