Default Traxxas Slayer - Anyone have one? How new is it?

I just bought a Slayer yesterday. Keep in mind I have not much r/c experience and even less offroad. I plan on taking it to a big dirt field next to my apt complex and breaking it in today and then getting it dirty after that.

Is this relatively new or has it been out for some time? I don't see a lot of threads for problems and parts/hopups and the search shows about 4 threads.

Do they make alluminum replacement parts for the skidplates for the front and the gearbox? Who makes performance hop ups for it? Does anyone even have a class for these to race in? I might want to try that some day.

The store I got it from, the employees weren't very lively and talkative.

The slayer is new but old. Basicly its a revo 2.5 chassis with shorter arms. If you dont mind working on a REVO then you will like this. All the hop ups for a revo will work on this except for the arms. For the price I would buy a 8th scale of some kind. This may be more of a basher just because AE made theirs in 8th scale I think others will do the same if they come out with these style trucks.

Default Nice truck, just not much 1/10th compitation

New Slayer 3.3, I thought the skinny tires would handicap it a little but it seems to keep up pretty well and have had no handling issues. I am on my 2nd gallon and other than normal nitro issues runs good. This truck handles the jumps vary well and has good suspension travel and lands from the larger jumps great. I am able to keep up with anything else on the local track so far and am sure if I was running against more of the same model it could lead to some exiting racing. I am not sure if the people posting the negative things have ever driven one or have just seen pictures or magazine stories.
