How Low ro Discharge?

How low (Volts) can I discharge a 1600 mah reciever pack? 5.0 volts?

Thanks in advance.

NiMH batteries don't need to be discharged. There's no memory effect with them.

You sure? We run Nimh batteries in 1/12th scale and we discharge them after every run. What batteries are you supposed to discharge and or cycle? I think you have Nimh mixed up with Lipo, but you can let me know. If I am waisting my time discharging, let me know.......

Thanks

There is some confusion about it, which seems to be because NiMh don't last as long (in the chemical sense, not mAh sense). NiMh batteries appear to have "memory effect" due to that.

I'm just going on my personal experience and some reading. Nothing scientific that I studied. From my understanding, your NiMh batteries will deteriorate chemically before you'd notice a memory effect.

If you feel the need to discharge a nimh pack, go no lower than 0.9 volts per cell...

for a 5 cell pack, that's 4.5 volts.
