CVD Pins Where to buy
Who changes their own cvd pins and where do you buy them? I've seen the tools, but never hear to much about this. Surprised nobody does it along with an engine pinching service..
I'm looking for rc8 pins, are they pretty much interchangeable?

Look in your manual for part number you can buy them anywhere that stocks AE parts. They are almost immpossible to change without a tool, Hudy makes on, and there is something called a bonesaver, or you can try a chain break tool. You should do some more research before you try this at home..its not as simple a task as it sounds

That's not what I meant, could've done without the comment... I was trying to be funny, like TV when someone does something stupid or dangerous and they say dont try this at home...anyway...its not as simple as just press out the old pins press in the new...they have to be set right, even, and i have heard people using threadlock, and people expanding the holes by accident and they lost the pins while running...i was just letting you know in a stupid kind of way to do some more research before you just go and do it..you dont want to lose the pin after everything

Ok, I wasn't sure how to take it but now I know. And it makes it funny now as I know just what you mean. lol
And I found a bunch of other threads on this subject, so I probably should've used the search .. It never used to work on these forums, but they've got it set up pretty good now. Thanks for setting me straight with the comment.

Yeah I always wondered why the companies didnt make that end with a set screw like the other end. I guess that would make things alittle cheaper and easier on us LOL. But to be honest I always had wear on my center bones or cvd's which ever they were but never had to swap pins or buy new cvd's for the driveshafts only the diff cups, wierd now that I think about it.

I use the Hudy pin replacement tool and it is as simple as push the old one out and push the new one in. Out of 25+ pins that I have replaced, never had an issue with the pin coming out. I've used mugen pins and Hudy pins. Hudy seemed to last just a tad bit longer but the mugen pins are fine.

No, I haven't used thread lock. I've changed pins out of Ofna Crt, Mugen, and Losi shafts. All 3 uses the same size pins but the Kyosho st-rr and the MP777 are a slightly smaller pin. I have yet to find pins for the Kyosho.

I also use the Hudy tool and mugen pins. Last week I did all the pins on my Losi. The Mugen pins are slightly shorter that the Losi pins but they seem to work fine.
By the way I dont recommend the Hudy tool. I think its harder to use than the Bonesaver. Last week while using it the pin inside the tool that pushes out the old pin broke of nearly taking my eye out (I should have been wearing glasses). Now I cant get the broken pin out of the tool so it might be junk. It still paid for itself with all the pins I replaced.

I just use small hex socket to round part of the dog bone and a vise to press the pins out. As for the pins, I get them from Mcmastercarr.com. Just make sure you get the harden one instead of the SST (soft). And also get the pins 1mm longer than you need, cause the ones they sell has a 1mm chamfer at the end.
