replacing an engine
lets say, i bought a 8ight RTR, and i want to replace the engine with a novarossi, i open the box of the rtr and then i unscrew the rtr engine on the engine moun, to remove the clutch all i need is a screwdriver and a flywheel puller to remove it right? and the shoes are intact, so i basicly i just unscrew the bell and remove the flywheel nut and remove the flywheel? and reassemble everything on the novarossi engine?
its an example. not a true story

and you dont need a flywheel puller with the losi 8ight clutch, just smack the back of the flywheel with a rubber mallet or a screw driver that has padding on the handle

To make it eaiser to remove the clutch shoes I use this:

You can use a mallet to remove the fly wheel, but I don’t recommend it. Rather, I use a Battery Terminal Puller which you can find in your local auto supply store for about 10$ to 20$. Or you can buy this:

the losi clutch is the most user friendly clutch out there, you dont need any tools. all you do is unscrew the pin and pull it out and the clutch shoes fall off the flywheel, to reinstall just round the end on the clutch pins and you push the pin thru the pad and spring and screw the pin in, roundin them makes them slide right in. no tools, no pain. my dad who takes for ever to take apart the buggy can change a clutch from start to finish in no more then 5 min, anyone who says you needs tools or anythin else on a losi clutch are just morons

yes, put those mounts on and then bolt then new engine up, dont forget to shim the clutch when you put it on the new motor

The clutch and bearings tend to expand as they heat up. So you need about .10 of play on the clutch bell when mounted on the motor shaft. Too little play and the bearings can become damaged. Too much play and the bearings can cause problems too.
Shimmimg the clutch refers to adding or removing shims on the bolt that holds the clutch bell on to get this play.
