The Dynamite Platinum .12 is the current motor of choice locally. It's got a ton of bottom end and excelent runtime on a tank. Most guys are gearing it up to a 20 tooth bell to tame the bottom end. It's alot of motor for a 1/10 truck. This is a rear exhaust engine.
If your just starting racing the Dynamite .12 SPD is a excelent engine also. Much easier to control and still plenty fast. They run real good on 30%. This is actually the engine I'd recommend if your just starting racing. They cost about $75 at the lhs. This is a side exhaust engine.
In 1/10 nitro racing, horsepower does not make you fast. A smooth usable powerband is best. This is where the .12 SPD is an advantage, it's also easier on your drivetrain (fewer failures). Spend the extra coin on racing tires. Get the Platinum later, after you have a dozen or so races under your belt.

Go ahead buddy.
I've ran a SPD for over 5 years. I know what they are capable of. Past many so called faster engines through the corners, and could definatly keep up with all buta few on the straights. I just wish it got as good of mileage as the Platinum.
Right now I'm running a O.S. CZ.12-Z. Last produced in 1996, before the CV's. This is my all time favorite gas truck engine.

I run an OS .12TG which has a similar power band to the Dynamites. I also have an OS .12TR (acts like a lightswitch) and an OS .12 TZ (smooooooth power).

thank god i bought a spare cvr .12 when i had the chance, i have that and Love it, still dont understand why os ever stopped making that motor.. over 10 min run times, and great power everywhere.. dollar for dollar the best .12 that was produced, for only 115$ when they were out.. But, once mine is dead, i need to find a new mill that runs at least that good..
