cleaners?
I am wondering what everybody is using to spray down there cars are you all using what your hobby shop sells or are you using something different.

50/50 mix of denatured alcohol/simple green (or other degreaser) inside one of these..

do you leave all your electronics is your car when you spray it down or do you take them out

I take all the electronics out and the motor, Then use Trinity's nitro blast (when I remember to buy it) or, Simple Green, spray it down and let it soak for 2 or 3 minutes and rinse it off with the hottest water I can get from the sink, and run it out to the garage and blow it off with lots of air. Then lube up all the bearings and put it all back together again. Repeat it all the next week...lol

I see there are several different kinds of denatured alcohol what kind do you recommend

I use simple green and denat alcohol mix too. Spray on, let soak, scrub with toothbrush if needed, hose off with mix again, compressed air to blow dry.
I buy the denat alcohol they sell in paint depts. My current can is S-L-X denat Alcohol. Wasn't aware there were differences, but maybe its the additives that make it unsafe to drink (poison)?? Not sure than would make a diff in cleaning action though.
Try the cheapest?

Just curious why a few of you are using denatured alcohol instead of just plain rubbing alcohol. I use denatured rubbing alcohol to clean the inside of lexan bodies before painting because it doesn't leave a light oil film on the body like plain rubbing alcohol. Can't imagine the light oil film from plain rubbing alcohol would hurt in the cleaning of the car though.

I use SG for cleaning the chassis, then WD40, and air. For cleaning diffs or shocks out, I use Wal-Mart branded brake cleaner. Less than $2/can...can't beat it. As long as what you use (brake cleaner) is non chlorinated, it is safe for most plastics. I would even dare say O-Rings too...but just be to 100% sure, I remove them and clean em by hand with a paper towel or just toss em and install new ones.

ive been using pledge clean and shine. its in the orange can. leave electronics and motor in. spray on, use compressor air to blow off. car is clean as new. some of the heavier dirt you need to wipe off by hand. works really good. jeremy

PLEDGE house cleaner is awesome to use when wiping it down. it is better than wd40 cuz it doesn leave a residue for dust to stick to but both work well
