Default Kyosho MP9 compared to Hot Bodies D8

My brother has a Losi 8ight and is considering switching. He is curious how the Mp9 handles in comparison to the Hot Bodies. I have the D8 and he likes the way it handles but he wants to know about the Kyosho.

Consider reading the latest R/C Car and Xtreme RC Cars magazines, propably RC Car Action, too, they all have good reviews of these cars plus other new ones, too.

From what I have read D8 and MP6 are pretty close, getting good ratings in all areas, Kyosho's plastic may be a bit better quality, I read that if you remove screws from D8 many times they won't hold as good.

On the track it compares favorably..I'm going by results..On the bench I would have to say it's not going to be close, The plastic used by Kyosho is a better quality than what HB uses, The MP9 is lighter and quicker, it's parts are going to last longer and therefore in the end it's probably going to be close in "real" prices..cost of racing over a season. "soft" plastic wears quickly, you might not break arms as quick but it will get a lot of slop in the steering and that will lead to inconsistent handling..

Dont kid yourself, every buggy gets slop in the steering and elsewhere, after a season my old 777 sp2 was loose as a goose, not saying the mp9 is anything like the 777... Sure I agree that the mp9 is the best, and lightest 1/8 scale out there, but saying that the maintenance of the d8 throughout a season will equal the difference in cost to the "maintenance-less" mp9 is unrealistic.

They both are good cars but $800 come on. Parts for the D8 are like the cheapest parts I have ever seen for a new car. And for that big price not 1 piece of Carbon fiber. I just think the MP9 is way over priced and the D8 is a great car for less than 1/2 the cost.

You can buy two D8's for the price of one MP9. I don't feel the quality or/and performance of the MP9 equals double the cost. I have just over one gallon on my D8 and it has no noticeble wear in anything yet. I did break a CVD but Hotbodies has already addressed this issue.

You cant honestly make that comparison, this topic has been wore the hell out. Hara's car was nowhere near stock, and alot of the mp9 suffered from externalities or other nonchassis related woes.

and really, can you honestly compare the two in quality? I know, I own an MP9 and all my friends have D8's because they're budget allstars. All you have to do is lift the car up and roll the drivetrain to know.

I wont knock the D8, its a great car, ESPECIALLY for the money. It a great thing for the sport/hobby, and i would never not recommend it to someone. But lets keep the oranges in the crates and the apples in the barrels here

you cant say one is better because it won worlds.... the top 20 guys at worlds could be fast with a duratrax...
the deal is that in the hands of the right driver, any car can be fast, and some may make it easier. what you need to do is drive both, or talk to someone who has driven both. there will be characteristics of both cars that will be beneficial.
