finally got everything torn apart and put back together, losi if you are listening....we want kits, we want kits. Now that I am done ranting, has anyone run the losi smartdiffs on a dry slick track. I am woundering if all that extra steering would do more harm than good.

Ok since i have J-Dub doing an awsome job on the bearing mod for you all I have some other parts that you might be interested in.

These parts are by no means a new idea. Fioroni have been doing them for a long time now, but who wants to pay Fioroni's stupid prices.

These photos are the last of my sample run. I have been testing these for over 6 months now and have had huge success. All my test drivers have reported back with nothing but praise for the items aswell.
Lightening your driveling doesn't have a big effect on the overall weight of the car, but i does have a massive effect on the time it takes for you to spool up the revs, and that results in a quicker build up of speed out of the corners and an all round quicker response in the brake and throttle responce.

The Axles shown are not the final product they are just the samples i have been running up to the what i am now going to sell.
The final product has a extra set of holes for driveshaft mounting. This gives the axles an extra life now have 3 points to rotate to.
Another change i have made is to the chamfer on the inside where the driveshaft mounts in. This used to rub at full lock on the origional axles. I have curved this area to now give the axle more full lock than the spindles actually provide. this prevents wear on the CV pins and driveshafts as well as wear on the axle.
The final change i have made is to the overall size of the axle. The origional Losi axles had alot of play between the axle and bearing. I have closed tis gap up to give the axles a neater fit into the bearings. this results in alittle less slop but doesnt effect the overall handling of the car. It also increases the life of the bearings as there is less vibration between the two items.
Unlike the Fioroni items, these will work with the 8x16x5 bearing mod.
These Axles are also over 50% lighter than the origional axles.

These Axles come as a set of 4 hard anodised in charcoal and are $39USD a set.

In testing i have run these on the Truggy and Buggy. On a really big landing in the Truggy I have had 1 snap on the rear. So I will not recommend them for the Truggy if you are driving on a MX style track. On the buggy i have tried my hardest to break one but have not been successful. I have run it straight into concrete blocks, tumbled end over end for entire straights and cased it into the faces of massive jumps and they have yet to fail me.


The CV Couplers and Pin Retainers shown are also the last of my sample items i have been running up to the what i am now going to sell.
The CV couplers and Pin Retainers also have a weight saving of over 50%. They have also received the same curved chamfer on the inside and evtra set of holes for increased life.
I have included a set of Pin Retainers with these items for use instead of the losi greese boots. These items have never failed me and durring testing i have run entire days without a grub screw in the CV joint and have still not lost a pin.
The CV Couplers come as a set of 2 and are also hard anodised in charcoal, they also come with 2 pin retainers. This are $22USD a set

I will post up the final pics of the items when i receive them back from the anodiser early in the week

J-Dub, got mine today as well, they look really good. So good, I might go ahead and take the down week to send you the fronts off the truck with the rears. Looks like good insurance. Then I'd have the 8x16x5's all the way around with a set of rears for backups.

what grade aluminum do you use?

J-Dub and Tix, are you guys modding the plastic hubs as well? Or just the aluminum ones?

They are modding plastic ones.

Yes we are doing the plastic hubs.
The aluminium ones are alittle harder to do as you have to be extra careful whith getting the size right.

I am using 6262 T6 Aluminium. I started out using 7075 and found that it wore out a whole lot quicker.
So for the extra price it wasnt worth it just to say its aircraft grade.
6262 T6 is what you use to make aluminium nuts and bolts. its tensile strength is awsome and I have found it just wears so much better than the 7075.

i put avids in my hubs tonight but im on a break for about a month so i wont know if they will work like the pros said it would at the nitro challenge or not..


if its not just the stock bearing like you guys have said, what does jdub charge for the new modded hub
