Horizon used to be great about servo repairs. Now as most are saying they are declining motor failures, at least on the HVS. They told me too many people were sending them in, doesn't seem too logical to stop repairing because too many people are sending them in but what can you do. This was also with two different techs, first one with Rick second, not sure but they said they had a recent change in repair policy for motor failures.
I had to have a local team driver at the time send mine in, then argue for a few hours until he talked to some type of rep for the east coast or something. Finally got new ones back and sold them, good riddens. Hitec warrantys as people say are great, no issues with them. Free repairs on my servos. KO Propo, another great company, they do make you pay for the repair which is fine by me. Usually under $20 for repairs and they pick up their phones right away. I wish JR would take a page of their book and instead of declining, they should start charging at cost what it takes to make the repair like KO. |

I had horizon pull that with me too they replaced the servo for menbut with a stern warning that I had damaged it with too much current. I ran it on lipo. Isn't that what they are designed for? I was talking with a local losi team driver and he said the jr's are hit and miss they either work great or are worthless right out of the box. That just sucks for such a pricy servo. They are the best looking servo out there :D
Yep I told them exactly what I did and that it was my fault and they took care of me for the $19 :D |
I just sent two servos back, JR 8711 and Hitec 7950, same time, and just got email from both companies letting me know they are checking them out, let's see what happens......

Hitec has always been good to me with repairs. I think I have sent back 3 servos in the past 2 years no issues repairing or replacing. They produce great stuff

Anybody try these Savox servos? They post some pretty impressive specs on torque and speed. Anybody know what the warranty is?
http://www.rcplanet.com/Savox_Digita...avsc1267mg.htm http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Digital-Servo They are a rebadged savox and are awesome in helis. Even better unregulated. They come with TG gear train also but they feel a little rough compared to hitec servo gear train. I have loged mainy flights (and crashes) with them but I have never used them in a buggy or truggy yet. I may grab some for throttle/brake servos and steering on buggy. |

I think Hitec is THE servo company right now.
There is no company or servo in that class right now. Hitecs WORK with little headaches. Are they perfect NO but they are close. But what put Hitec over the top is their customer support. I have 2 JR servos that was sent back to me stating abuse. I ME MYSELF broke a screw into the output gear of the 7950. I called Hitec and told them I DID it. He laughed and said, your the first. And sent me the gear in the mail postage paid, and they made sure I had it by my race date... YOU CAN NOT GET BETTER THAN THAT.............................. ALL SERVOS CAN FAIL. Its the support for the $150 servos that win my business. |
You guys with your bling. 4 seasons in eighth scale and i've seen more pissed off people with JR servos than everything else combined. Although i've never tried them Hitec seems to have very satisfied customers and their customer service seems tops. I've run futaba for 4 years and have no clue how their customer service is because i never needed to send one in, ever! Replaced some gearsets after many races but i think that's common to all servos. BLS 351/BLS451 is a superb combo. Now i use the S9157 for truggy steering. 425 oz/in torque regulated at 6 volts. I've often said if something on your vehicle is out of sight, out of mind, it's damn good. Hey not sure, but futaba's cust. service might just suck, haven't had to find out. I even run a losi reg. with switch and haven't had one problem with them either. When switch gets hard to move i replace it. They have been in both vehicles all season. If i knew for a fact the futaba receiver and servos would handle it i would ditch the regulator just so rec. compartment isn't so cramped.

Every single servo i sent it they said i put to much current thru them and made it osolate(sp?) to far which was bogus because i ran them on nimh(reg 9100t and s) and i always checked my epa. They said that on almost ALL servos i sent in. it was pretty much the same message word for word
