Tire treatments? (offroad of course)
Anybody use anything interesting for tire treatment? I've just been using simple green and a heatgun.

actually saw sombody using somthing interesting for tire treatment last week......belt dressing for a car...from any auto parts store.....dont know how well it worked but it makes sence that it would........

I live in North Dakota, and honestly I don't think I've seen anyone use tire treatment of any kind. I keep seeing threads like this one and if it helps as much as it sounds like it does I wouldn't mind trying it out. Does everyone run tire additives for the most part or do just some think it's worth doing?

i have never ran any either i just happened to see him putting it on a 1/10 gas truck........

I think the Ragu is definitley worth using. Dan, the guy that makes the Ragu, races at our track. He uses it every week and wins almost every week. I have used it on my truggy and I think it makes the tires more consistent throughout the race. It softens the tires quite a bit.

I only use tire treatment when racing indoors on very smooth clay. I use Buggy Grip II, which works very well and it softens the tires for improved traction. (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJX76)

How do you guys apply these 'sauces' then? Spray on or wipe on? Do you let it dry or wipe off? Interested to know as it would be handy for when the NeoBuggy race is on :tire:

For the best results with the Ragu and Marinade, apply the Marinade 3-4 nights before race day and put the tires in a ziplock bag until day of the race. When you get to the track, dab off any excess Marinade and warm the tires with a heat gun. This helps the tires absorb any remaining Marinade and opens the rubber up to accept the Ragu. Apply the Ragu (with tires warm ) and let set for 5-10 min. If you can time it so the tires are still warm when you hit the track that is all the better too.
Dan also has a great cleaner for cleaning tire beads prior to mounting. It really gets all the residue off the beads for a clean, solid mount. Hope this helps |
Diesel fuel works awesome. It just stinks.
