Starter Box Question
I recently purchased an OFNA chrome top starter box from my local hobbytown. I've used the thing 4 times total.
Here's the link to it that I found: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5429 My question is however, I use the starter box for a minute or so and the motor becomes very hot and loses it's torque. It will spin the motor but it won't spin the flywheel. My question is do you think that I have a bad motor in it? My plan is to take it back today, but I wanted to check to see if it is normal to run for only a minute or so before the engine becomes very hot and loses torque? |
I should also add that I'm using it to start a Losi 8 Truggy. This could make a difference I'm sure. Although the owner of the store knew I had this vehicle.

My guess is your hitting the chassis more than the flywheel. Make sure there isn't rubber near the slot for the flywheel. I beveled the opening on both my Losi's for extra clearance. It needs to be aligned correctly and also make sure the motor starts early enough so it isn't rubbing the chassis by the time it starts spinning.

Make sure the nut that holds the starter wheel on is tight. It is very hard to tighten. If the wheel is slipping it can cause the motor to overheat.

definetly check for rubs...
