Default Associated .28Pro backplate

I've got an Associated .28Pro engine(comes with RTR RC8), and I'm now using a starter box and want to get rid of the rotostart backplate and replace it with a standard one.

Associated doesn't make one, but I'm wondering if there is a direct-fit standard backplate out there. It has been suggested that the OS 21RG http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCF92&P=7 "should" fit, but just by eyeballing it, it seems like it might go in a little too far and hit the end of the crankshaft.

Has anyone actually done this with the OS 21RG backplate, or any others?

Thanks

im pretty sure the back plate from a thunder tiger .28 pro would work, i think the 2 engines are the same.

I've got an rg backplate on mine. The thundertiger engine is the same, if they have a backplate for that engine. AE does have one, hard to find and it's like twenty bux compared to five bux for an rg backplate.

To make any one fit you will have to take the crank out and cut the little nipple off of it. Cut it a little long first, then grind the rest off with the flat part of the cutoff wheel. Some fuel tubing over the crankpin helps protect it from any slips if you are not steady handed.

The backplate of the Ninja B01A works as well, but you will have to make a custom shim to prevent it from going into the crank case too far.
