I found a alternative to teh AMB system.
The transponders are half the price and are powered by a lithium battery with a 5 year lifespan.

the AMB 20 system will not, i repeat will not work with personals. You have to have house transponders. When buying new house transponders, your looking at 120 each, thats more then a personal.

I just bought an AMBrc 3.0 system, from ebay for 3400 about 2 months ago. It came with the loop, the serial cables and 6 house trandponders with a charging rack. The decoder box without the loop, or serial cable can cost as much as 3000 from AMB. And then you have a 2 month back order on them. Then you have to buy the loop, thats 180, the serial which is like 5 buck, and house transponders because not everyone can afford to pay almost 100 bucks for a personal.

You best bet, honestly is to pay the price for the good system that takes personals, and buy personals for hand outs. Just have to make sure you get them back like you would any other hand out transponders.

Where do you buy them? AMB doesn't sell them for the system 20 anymore.

I've bought two decoders "new from AMB US". They both came with serial cables, power supplys, and a head set included. (the latest one comes with a crossover cable too). Just bought a loop, that was $40 (now a loop with the coax is more) But for $3000 you get the decoder (and all its hardware), coax and loop.

Totally different type of personal. Will NOT work with AMB (nor will AMB's work with it)

hey, I was looking at the orion personnel lap counter. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKVZ0&P=OW I was wondering if anyone had used one and if you can run more than one system on the track at a time or if you can get different transponders? Thanks.
