I have a nitro rustler and have never melted a brake disk.
Your rear wheels should have 3 degree's of toe in.
1) For the brake disc is your slipper adjusted correctly?
2) Is your throttle linkage causing your brake to rub when in neutral or while accelerating?
3) Is your brake linkage dropping in the holes and causing you not to have any brakes?
I use these in mine now and boy does it stop.
Ofna Brake Disk Fiber X1-CR/CRT direct fit. NO DREMELING!
There's 2 fiberglass disc's in the package.

1) For the brake disc is your slipper adjusted correctly? yes it is adjusted right
2) Is your throttle linkage causing your brake to rub when in neutral or while accelerating? no no rub
3) Is your brake linkage dropping in the holes and causing you not to have any brakes? no i had a local hobbie shop adust it and it worke fine for a little but then i was running it hard and i lost the brakes when i looked at it the disc was melted away so maybe i will just go with the carbon fiber. do they wear out fast or do they last for a long time

I've had my rustler for over 1 year. I'm on my second 2.5r engine and I've run about 8 gallons through it in total.
I changed my brake disk for fun in June. The original one is still good.
Somethings not quite right if your melting the brake disc.
You can try a carbon fiber one, how long it lasts depends on how/why your melting the stock disc.
