I'am a novice racer at revalation raceway in CA.
I currently race a losi 8ight, but it just doesnt suit my drivin style and the maintance of that car is unreal, and i have had to replace some odd things.

so I'am going to be in the market for a new buggy and some of my choices are

1. Mugen MBX5R
2. X-Ray 808
2. Associated RC8

so if you could give me some honest feedback that would be great!!

all of those are fantastic buggies, cant go wrong with either of them..

Rev is a great place as well, there are tons of dudes who can help you with your decision as im sure all the the mentioned buggies are being raced there

When are you guys that get paid buy cen gonna realize that you are the only people who push those pieces of junk. Seriously its getting old.

I don't get paid by Cen and I promote or suggest their buggy or truggy. They are very affordible compared to the other high dollar kits and they are very competitive too. I think Cen makes a good product at a decent price. They are also a relatively new company so in time their products will improve and be better.

When I bought my RTR Matrix buggy back in 2005 some guys at the track made fun of my buggy because they haven't heard of Cen. They especially made fun of the size of the shocks (which were considered big bore at that time).and joked and teased about "how much shock oil it took to fill those things". Now everyone has or wants big bores on their rigs.

I bought my FRE kit in early 2007 for well under $300.00. The money I saved went towards a mill (Go Tech .21 7 port turbo $189 and two Hitec Titanium geared digital servos $89 each). I had my rig up and running for under what a Losi 8ight, Kyosho MP777, or MBX5R kit costs.

Don't get me wrong, the above mentioned kits are awesome and have proven themselves to be fast and durable. But for a family man like myself, spending $700 to $800 on a kit alone is out of the question at this time. After all this is only a hobby and I have other priorities to worry about.

If you have the means to afford one of those high end kits then, God Bless You and more power to you.

If your having problems with wear and tear on the 8ight then stay away from the RC8, its probably the most delicate buggy I've driven.

I'm curious, what have you had to replace?

if you drive like a wild person every buggy is fragile and will break i spent more in parts on the 5r then i have my rc8. with the service pack and upgraded top plate the rc8 is just as tough as any buggy. the 808 is a tank though ive seen a couple of those take some hard hits and keep on going :D

I race at Revelation as well.

X-ray seems expensive, and drives like the Losi.

Mugen is pretty strong, slightly expensive, but not the greatest handling.

I have the RC8, I like it a lot and it is really easy to drive. I have not really broken anything on it yet. The stuff that wears is pretty cheap, and it is all suspension bushings and stuff that is easy to change.

is there anything that wears out on the rc8.

does a bear shit in the bush?

I run an XB8tq but have a friend who bought an 808. What a buggy !!!!!!
Jumps great and rolls over a bumpy track as if it were asphault. 808 will be my next buggy. SMOOOOOTH !!!!!

there are a few things holding me back from buying the 808, one thing is the parts availabilty, and the i hear it handles just like the losi?

I dont own the buggy youre talking about, but most buggies bearings go pretty fast, also tires, but im sure you kne that ;)

im trying to help you but I have been away from home and my cars for 2 months and am drawing a complete blank!!

Shock bushings, and some of the suspension pills wear out. I haven't had any bearings go bad yet. Rear chassis brace links wear out, but you can replace them with solid braces.

I replace or clean clutch bell bearings after every day at the track. The diffs and drivetrain is very durable.
