Ok bought a 8ight RTR and have half a gallon of fuel through it and have started to tear down and clean. Now in a couple of sheets that came with the unit it tells you what color to use on the wheel nuts and center drive shaft. Now I look in the manual it shows what part to loctite but deosn't state which color. Reason I ask is I'm about to install the engine and not sure which color I should use and I have purple, blue and red. Now do use just one color if so which one? Or do you use a different color for different parts.

yes, use blue and dont put too much or you will wreck the screw.

I think red is the strongest, im not sure what purple is... google would answer that in .1 seconds

I only use red on the shock damper nut on the shaft. And blue I use on every thing else.

green is the strongest and whatever you do dont use that.

Most people are using blue. I used to be a auto mechanic and sometimes I would find red used on the driveshaft bolts, talk about a bear getting them out.

from what i know green is the strongest. do not use it if you plan on taking it back apart.

like most people have said use blue.

- Purple: low-strength for smaller fasteners. Can be separated using hand tools

- Blue: general/medium-strength "removable" thread locker for most applications. Can be separated using hand tools

- Red: permanent/high-strength thread locker for most applications. Can be separated using hand tools and directed +300F-degree heat source

- Green: designed for cylindrical parts bonding (e.g. cartridge bearing to pivot-axle) high-strength yield = usually requires +300F-degree heat source and tools for removal (should not be used on commonly adjusted fasteners, this compound should be viewed as a permanent set)

Engines/tires/etc. should be used with blue loctite.

the original Loctite (when it was first invented and marketed in the 1970s) was BLUE, since then there have a multitude of varieties and user-specific formulas added mostly for heavier-duty 1:1 automotive/truck uses.

but none of them apply to our use in RC, and why everyone universally uses BLUE in our hobby (and maybe why the notation was overlooked in the losi manual) as choosing anything else will be problematic

whats up with having to be 18 to buy loctite? i bought some at wal-mart not too long ago and got carded (i'm 19)
