VM&P Naphtha is sold at Lowes in the paint thinner/solvet aisle. Right next to linseed oil, mineral spirits, xylene, and acetone.

Strange, I am going back to my Lowes armed with the picture above. They did not have it! I wonder if they were out?

We were talking about diff cleaning at work and a friend of mine told me that he uses charcoal starter fluid and that it cut right through the silicone diff oils. As I'm going through my Hyper 7 completely right now I decided to give it a try.

IT WORKS GREAT!

Great solvent for the silicone oil and it's available pretty much everywhere. The can says petroleum distillates which I think may be another name for naptha, but I wanted to let you guys know that it is another option.

Im anal so I completely dissasemble, soak the cases in naptha, wipe everything real good with a paper towel, check for wear crask faulty o-ring etc, reassemble and then do a dance.

Note: you dont have to be so anal, but the dance is a requirement, sorry I dont make the rules.

That "Diff dunker" is just a tea ball. Tehy can be had at the $.99 only store for, you guessed it, $.99. Dollar General, and Dollar Tree usually carry them too.

Yep +2 for Shellite, is like lighter fluid, i pull my diffs apart, remove o-rings clean everything, wait for shellite to evaporate, check for any damaged parts and reassemble, geezz guess i am anal about maintenance as well, as have been doing this for years, i clean and reoil after 4 club meetings, and before every big meeting.
Cheers
Scott
