V-spec owners, question for ya...

How many gallons are you at, or how many gallons do you get out of your V-spec?

Steve Walters 06-21-2008 04:47 PM

I have a V-Spec that I call "14+2"

I raced it for 14 gallons,(with zero major issues) and then rebuilt it after its 14th Gallon. I re-sized the sleeve, replaced the C-rod & replaced the stock bearings. It is now on its 2nd gallon on the rebuild, going super strong. Raced it last Saturday, and was ballisticly fast with consistent tune all night.

I'm currently breaking in a New 08 V-Spec. (Same method) My 14+2 is going to become a backup motor after this last gallon.

I know of a half of dozen V-Spec with over 10 Gallons on them in my area.

What did they change on the 08 V-specs?

they are running the same carb as the speed range, plus i believe a slightly modded case as there were a few vspecs which cracked along the base, the bearing was revised in 07 prior to this latest change, these are the only changes i have heard of

its the 21J carb from the 28ZX

slow coach 06-21-2008 05:35 PM

i believe the carb is called the 21C but you could be right from the .28 and the motor is now part No 13895 i think the old one was 13890 but not 100%

imaxx21 06-21-2008 05:41 PM

old carb is 21C ;)

slow coach 06-21-2008 05:47 PM

yeah sorry i edited post every new motor i see has the carb listed as 21C so i guessed that was the number, but just checking now it is listed as the 28zx complete carb on the os usa site which is as you posted

I re-sized the sleeve, (Rays racing, great job) replaced the C-rod & replaced the bearings.

Too bad they are out of stock, but I guess if you don't have nay to sell you can make the price anything you want.

My last Vspec i had 2 g on it ran great , i traded it and 150 for a brand new Vspec and i believe i'm on my third gallon. After Sundays race i'm gonna put in a new rod and F/R bearings just to be safe, I may pinch it but prob not. :tire::nod::nod::tire:
I love the quality and price of the V-spec
