Default Safe way to buy something from online?

I'm looking to buy something from someone online. The thing is, its alot of money to me and I don't know this person from Adam. They seem trustworthy but I don't want to necessarily take a chance with this amount of money.

so, is there some type of "intermediary" or "Safe Harbor" or something like that? I don't mind paying a fee.
JQ Products "Le Car" - 3 of them. Primary, back-up, and spares car
Bunch of "classic" Schumachers
Tamiya - Leopard 2A6, Tiger 1
HPI - Blitz

use paypal for the transaction as they have non-delivery protection.... If you don't get the item, they chase it up!
