Flush New Engine Out?
 

Do you guys flush your new engines out with fuel to remove any particles from manufacturing?

One site I read recommended this and I don't really feel like doing it, since it's already put together so nicely. ;)

I have seen junk in several high end MFG engines. It is amazing how they think this is good for business. I always clean mine whether it be for me or my customers.
Check the deck height too.

i ALWAYS take the head and backplate off to inspect it. i've used WD40 to
"rinse" the engine,but have not tried fuel.

when i get new engines in if they are going to stay stock i will take a Q tip and use it to clean the inside of the motor, flushing inword could get trach into the bearing or bearings, the fuel while running the motor will go out the exaust, the piston will shedd flakes as well, but using a Q tip can get more out than you think, also pull the HSN out, this way you can flush and alum debree out of the housing, and then put in some after run oil and fire it up.

Important, always lube the motor after a clean up or tear down so you don't have a dry start. good luck

I check every engine I get before use whether new or used. The 20 minutes spent on an engine is worth it given the cost of fixing a premature failure.

what do you set your .21 at for deck height ?

.024 ~.025 ??

For 20% fuel I run my engines at .023" to .025". For 30% I run .025" to .027".

New one on me what do you mean by deck height?

its the distance between the head button and the actual piston...Head clearance/deck height....w/e u wnna call it....it vary's from motor to motor and fuel to fuel...also pending on your altitude head shimming can come into play aswell.

After its broke in? Is that how you check it?

you can check it both ways..... and or you want to know before you run it....


also on the 30% at .025 ~ .027 that goes for most motors ? I ask because I have a go7port that was at .037 out of the box.... and thought that was high (because like you I check mine and run about .025 on all my motors)

so I have another thread "not your normal motor question" and have some pictures of the internals of my go7port with some build up on them.... and was wondering if the deck height could cause that ? or if it is the fuel?

I do check my deck height on all of my motors. .037" is way too high.
