thank you... my calipers were flicking between 2.5 and 2.6 on a mugen flywheel which is the margin of accuracy/error for my relatively inexpensive ones...

I finally got a chance to drive my car on a smooth dirt track this weekend, it was like night and day compared to the bumpy astroturf track I've been going to. All the handling problems I was having were gone. The car became so easy to drive it was unreal.

Bumpy Astroturf? I met a guy from Holand and he said that the Astroturf tracks he race at are pretty smooth, sometimes smooth and slippery. What do you mean by handling problems, what didn't you like about the buggy before? I run on a verity of tracks, now most are pretty smooth, but still a little bumpy, smooth is a lot easier to run on.

The astroturf we have in the UK always seems to be bumpy, the back of the car would bounce up and down and there would be too much grip in the corners and the car would flip over.

What oil and pistons are you running In the rear shocks also, how much droop are you running in the rear? Sounds like it's to soft in the rear and to much body roll into corners, mine will hold through a grooved corner at good speed unless I'm running to soft of tire, then I'll traction roll, but not because of car set up.

Neill, we also have astroturf in The Netherlands, for the MP9 it is important to adjust your shocks as flat as possible, so inside on tower, outside on arms. Also upper arms in outher holes on front and back hub. Also stabi 2.8 front and 3.0 in the back.

I used 1.2 x 8 with 600 oil in front shock and 1.3 x 8 with 450 in the rear shock. Will test next weekend with 1.3x8 in front and 1.4x8 in back with tapered pistons.

The new pistons. Are they designed for more high speed compression? I am not sure on what properties they will have in the shock.

I think it's for faster compression and delayed rebound, but I'm not sure.

I like the idea of high speed compression, but not slower rebound.

Perhaps delayed was not the right word; the rebound would likely be the same as with a standard hole.
