At the last race I was at, my car (standard edition) got around the track just as well as my buddies car(team driver, TKI). He, I and a few other noted that mine actually looked better in the rhythm section and the rough stuff.

I don't think the TKI parts are needed, although they would be nice. There are few things on my SE that I'm not happy with and wish were the same as the TKI.

I'll just upgrade to TKI parts as things break and wear.

Well, that sounds decent enough to me.

just a quick question for those that have the MP9, Im kicking around getting one here in a few weeks with a RB S3 Engine/pipe combo and a M11 (not sure if i can fund the M11x but will see) anyways, do you have issues with parts braking etc? I know the standard just came out , just need input, my Ke2/3's held up very well just thought i would ask.

A heavier car will get through the bumpy section better as the car is less likely of being bounced around and the suspension will work better.

However in the longrun in longer heats and mains the lighter car will perform better as the engine will not need to haul around the excess weight and the overall mechanics of the car is going to be more efficient.

How much heavier do you think the Standard Edition is? Other than the light weight parts in the driveline, I don't see any differences that would make the Standard weigh substantially more then the TKI.

yeah based on kyosho's info they both come in around 3300grams (7.2lbs) so it is interesting. Still havent found any reason not to get a MP9 over the MBX6 lol (besides price). looks solid to me.

At around $650 for the Standard, the price is not that bad. It is still on the upper end of the spectrum, but not in the outer stratosphere like the TKI.

In my opinion, you get what you pay for. But I'm an admitted Kyosho fan boy, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

$580 is what i found it for, so its in the middle really. I know I was the first one in my area to nail a MP7.5 when it came out, and then the KE2/3. I've never had a problem braking anything, only thing is the clutch bell screw and bearings, oh and the wing, and i took some nasty spills and it kept on going. Fellow drivers at the track would ask me if i need parts after doing 6 cartwheels down the back streach, and im like, its fine. Kyosho doesn't slack in parts IMO.it's just hard to pick, not like back when there was maybe 3buggys if not 5, now there is over 10 to pick from, but mugen and kyosho are in my top 2.

just i have no local shops around ( driveable that is) so parts will be via online, so i have to take that into my pick as well and both are well supported online, and im getting more love from the kyosho peeps anyways lol.

so its ok to be a fanboy lol

I hadn't seen it for that cheap. That makes it cheaper then some it puts it right in the middle of the other buggies. I paid $630 for mine and feel that it was worth the money. AT $580, it is worth it for sure.

Also check ebay for parts. I few stores there part out new kits. You can get things for a steal.

Amain has it for 599 ( I think) and if you score a coupon, even better

i've been searching threw ebay and havent found alot, seeing alot of mp7.5/777 cross over parts but not a hole lot of the "MP9" in the serached, mostly just a few parts form a kit that someone has taken apart (dont know why) but for spares thats probably where i will pick them up from, few sets front/rear arms, odds and ends, I'll upgrade it later, as with the standard kit im sure Kingheads will start making some goodies as there isn't alot out there besides whats in the TKI(if i got it right) kit.

The only thing I wish my car had from the TKI was the hard coated chassis as most of the anodizing rubs off the SE chassis after a tank or two. I haven't felt the need to upgrade anything yet. All the aluminum is the same 7075 as the TKI, just not hard coated.

The only things from the TKI I plan to put on my car is the lightweight drivetrain stuff (when my stock stuff wears) and the TKI brake disks (not even sure if they are needed, my car stops on a dime). I am also going to pick up the larger rear tower and longer rear shocks a tuning aid. Not that the car has needed them as of yet (only ran it on two different tracks), but it will be nice to have those parts in my bag in case I come across a situation where they are needed.

yeah, drive line parts i can see having, as well as the rear shocks/tower as well. I most likey will do the same, just like in my car (99 GSX) i keep a set of spare belts "just in case" so i know how that is. Now i just have to wait till i get the funding to pick one up and start the joy of putting one together, I have Hitec hi tq servos already, well had them last year as i though i was going to pick one up, but ended up putting a new motor in the "big" car so...
fast forward a year and im ready. I miss it alot and now that my boy is 8, maybe i can spark him to get into it as well. Really give his mother something to complain about

I hear that, damn DSMs!

Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy the car when you get it.
