Default why buy an off-road car?

im so confused about ppl buying an off-road car and racing it on carpet ONLY, i mean, isnt the whole point of buying an off-road car, is to do exactly that? to me the ppl that buy offroad cars and ONLY race on carpet are pussies, they dont wanna get their hands dirty cleaning their car can someone shed some light on this subject?

it's all preference...maybe they like the offroad car for the way it looks...maybe they like to bash it in their free time when it's not racing. other than 1-18 scale, I haven't really seen any other offroad cars on the carpet track, but that might just be me.

ok, well down here in adelaide we have one offroad(dirt) track situated at morphetvale, and another off-road track on daws rd, which is carpet, i have a mate that just bought(goin back 2 months ago) a hyper ST but anyway, he said that he was only going to use it on the carpet track!... now i have driven the hyper ST around a dirt track, why would you ONLY want to run on carpet? these things were MADE for the dirt. this is my arguement, they handle better on dirt

I've only seen carpet laid in offroad tracks in Europe. Its been used in the US, but at big events, and its used on areas that are known to get grooved rutted badly, like on jumps. Also keeps dust down when its windy.

well like i said b4 we only have one track in which to use on race day, and sometimes the track gets that bad that we put a bit of carpet b4 the jump so that the cars aren't so unpredictable,
