I have a Losi 8T with a Trinity .28 engine. I fully broke in the motor and it was running fine until today. When I put it on the starter box it starts up and goes full throttle. My needle settings should be correct since it worked fine yesterday at the track. I cannot figure out what is going on. Please help.

Are you using a spectrum system? If you could give some more info about your radio gear ,if you have a failsafe ect.

I am using the Airtronics M11 with the Spektrum system. I do not have a failsafe.

Front bearing leak? I am not understanding. Do you mean the carb? Not to sure if trinity is a picco product.

could be a air leak at the carb base, possible cracked block, or front bearing leak. have you pulled the air filter off to visually inspect that the carb barrel is returned to within 1-2 milimeters of closed?

The front crankshaft bearing seal can develop an air leak which leans the engine out. That could be why it seems to go full throttle at startup. Only reason I say that is I had that happen with my Jammin .28, which is a Picco based engine. They are known for having poor quality bearings. Thats what I've read anyway. I replaced the front bearing in mine but have not driven it yet to see if it is fixed. I'm sure somebody else here could help you further, I'm just going off of what I've had to deal with.

With out starting the motor ,Turn your system on look to see that your throttle is going to the neutral spot and not going full throttle.And you may have done this ,but I will ask .Did you bind your recv. to the transmitter? Because if you didnt, and you only turn the recv. on in the truck ,and not the transmitter .And you start it .It may go full throttle ..

Yes my radio and receiver is all setup. It is in the neutral position at start up.

could it be that my engine is not getting enough gas? i remember when my car is low on gas it goes full throttle.

The engine going to full throttle could be the result of a leak somewhere, so be sure to check your tubing, fuel tank, and also ensure that your engine is sealed at points such as the carb neck, pinch-bolt, backplate, etc. Also, double-check the screws for the button head and make sure your glow plug is nice and tight.

Another, somewhat less likely scenario would be a big change in weather conditions from the previous day, at which point you'd need to re-tune according to ambient tem & humidity.

I wouldn't worry so much about a leaky engine bearing unless you really see a puddle under the flywheel; my Nova P5X front bearing leaks slightly as well, and it holds a tune just fine. If it really worries you though, it's just a matter of replacing it.
