Default Change bearings when new or after breakin?

Just like the title says, I have an os-v-spec and am wondering if changing the bearings to ceramic when new before break in is a good idea? Point being that the small metalic shavings created by the break in process may find their way into the ceramix before break in is complete and fowl the bearings? Is there any substance to this? If so replace after 1 gallon? thanks for your advice

If you are going ceramic do it from the start.
there is nothing wrong with the stock bearings in the new Vspecs though. But if you know for a 100% fact that you are wanting to go ceramic i say go ahead and install them, flush the engine out good while you have it apart and break that boy in.

Speeds come with ceramics, so do other engines... you wont hurt em.

i agree, if you are going to go ceramic, go TKO, i have 8+ gallons on my EB modded Vspec with the very same ceramic bearing the motor came with. Solid motor and bearing...cant go wrong!

It may not hurt to replace them after break in either if that is what you want to do. I have never had an issue with bearings during break in unless the bearing was bad to begin with. It happens from time to time. I have ran the ceramics and like them with no issues either.

I recommend after the break-in. That way, the bearing sees less stress and should last longer. I also check and clean the engine after break-in when the new bearing goes in. If your going to chuck the old bearing, might as well use it for the break-in.

im sure others think differently when it comes to breaking in your engines..

but to me, part of break in is seating your rear bearing, also its a good idea to take the bearing out before you run any fuel at all so you can still sell it as new and get some money out of it.

I personally would not buy a bearing pulled from an engine. New or used. As far as seating a bearing, that would apply to real engine bearings, not ball bearings. I have never heard of break-in or seating a ball bearing.

god dam 8+ gallons the most i ever had on a engine was i think 5 how much longer do you think it will last
