Default Savage Start up

yesterday I took my savage to the hobbyshop because it wasnt starting. They told me the clutch was too tight, I loosened it, and now its good. It is able to start with relative ease, however yesterday when I started it the wheels were turning and the engine sounded a little too loud for idle. (I assume the wheels should not turn when the truck is propped up on bricks.)

The instruction manual says not to mess around with the idle screw adjustments and all of that until it is broken in. It also says not to use the radio equipment during break in, just I am suppose to open the carb 1/4 of the way manually. This is obviously too much, as the clutch is engaged and the wheels are moving.

Can I close the carb more until the wheels stop turning or will that cause the engine to run too lean? The manual says that if the wheels turn during idle to close the carb more, but how much is too much? Im a total noob at this and dont want to damage anything. Anyone have any advice?

I have 2 savage' and yes adjust the radio to help the idle be lower. Just because they say don't mess with the needles doesn't mean much. Their settings are just a rough start as every engine is different.
