I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE

:flaming: I've only been messing with nitro for about 2 years. It always amazingto me on how little I really know. It's all about trial and error.

I am getting ready to race in the Lundsford Blast here in Oregon and of course there is trouble. My gas tank (brand new) is not letting fuel arrive to the carb. If it does after I hold the exaust hole it will only stay a short while then go back in the hose. I guess I need to know what I should check now. It's an 8T with a mach 427. The true rookie is open for answers. Thank you.

Take the fuel tube off the pressure nipple on the pipe ans off the carb inlet on your motor and blow threw the pressure side to see if the fuel flows well?

If so make sure your low speed needle on your motor is not fully closed (have you messed with the needles latley) Sounds like maybe the carb low/high needles may have dirt in them?

You said it trial and error...check all the possibilities that could be causing it.
Blocked fuel line, split in fuel line, blocked fuel filter, tank cap not sealing, blocked carby, air leak......as you can see there are a few possibillties.

Also, just replace the fuel line. If the fuel evaporates in the fuel line, the oil will stay behind and sorta block the line. If you didn't run the engine until all fuel was out of the line the last time you ran it, the carb might be gummed up with oil. Check to make sure you didn't inadvertantly cross connect the fuel/pressure line. Check for air leak at fuel tank lid.

thanks for all the adavice.Literally the tank was put on with new hoses about an hour ago. How should I check the carb for build up? I have been putting afterrun oil in the carb inlet with a hose. Maybe to much oil? Should I take the carb off and take it apart and spray it with nitro cleaner? Thanks everyone.

Can you blow anyy fuel into the carb with your mouth as you pull the carb open--does fuel flow? does it flow if the carb is set to idle?

It wont hurt to back out the high/Low needles all the way and spray nitro cleaner to clean everything out..dont forget to count how many turns out before you pull them

Pull the pressure line off the tank and blow into it. Maybe the pipe is plugged and won't allow it to build proper pressure.
