LOL. Too funny.

#1) Spit test is on the top head fin.

#2) Try to get a reading straight down on the glow plug.

Temp guns are for poeple who don't learn how too tune or read glow plugs.

The whole temping thing was started to help bring poeple into nitro powered R/C in tell they learned how to tune by sound, smoke and smell. BUT they never learned how so the fiddle f**k the carb settings all day long. Bcause they live and die by the temp gun...

They should use the temp gun on myself because they are over stressing on the temp gun tuning

Spit test is so simple yet so accurate I swear by it now. I use the spit test to make sure my temp gun is accurate as silly as that sounds. Who knew I had a $100 temp gun in my mouth. Went back and forth trying to tune my enging to temp but was never sure of my reading with temp gun. Had read many articles about spiting on the engine thought it seemed ridiculous. However it is a spot on test. Now I no longer tune to temp but to performance and temp is my refence for good engine life.

1. Spit on top engine fin
2. If spit sits with no evaporation you are below 212 degrees
3. If spit slowly boils off 3-5 secs. 220-260
4. If spit instantly evaporates shut your engine off 280+

I checked all of the above against my cheap $20 duratrax temp gun. They all were correct with what I have read in other post. As far as what temps the spit will react at.

Just a side note for $20 the duratrax was spot on.

Very interesting to see the thermal image of the engine. You can tell that if your choice of tuning is a temp gun that the glow plug is the hottest area.
