cooking in anti freeze sounds a little extreme...my wife would freak
Get some oven cleaner and never look back. I really can't believe it hasn't been posted yet. I think it's called EZ-Off and it's safe for chrome finish or hard coated pipes.
Oven cleaner and a little bit of elbow grease will make your pipe look brand new. I clean mine every couple races and it looks good as new every time.

The 0000 steel wool works like a champ and afterwards take a little Mother's Chrome polish and you'll be as good as new. Note: the steel wool can be a little messy so you will definitely want to clean the exhaust thoroughly, inside and out, when your done. Something that will help going forward, wipe it down when your done at the end of the day to prevent nasty buildup...good luck!
Also, I've heard of guys using the crock pot, but I think my wife would beat my a#$. She already gets mad when I use her pots to die my wheels!

Another nod for the crock pot/antifreeze solution. I recently did this for my Werks 2013. Came out looking almost new again. I've never tried the EZ Off solution, but if you do, be sure to do it in a well ventilated area and use heavy duty rubber gloves. This stuff is highly caustic
And since he is a Tech member...first Ive seen you on any forum and not sure you've seen these anywhere else yet.

I haven't done the coolant/crockpot cleaning, but don't breathe that stuff either. If there is any fumes of vapors from the coolant, don't breathe in that crap. I know guys who got sick from breathing coolant vapors when working on automotove repairs, so be careful. Also, try to dispose of the green coolant at the auto stores. If you dump it on the floor, animals my try drinking it and it will kill them. For some who don't know, green coolant has a sweet taste.
