Another Variation of the same old...
Sorry if this is redundant, I've seen variations of this question for different engines but couldn't find the answer for O.S. by searching the threads.
I have an O.S. .21 VG with a JP-4 pipe. I am getting good smoke, what appears to be minimal fuel out the exhaust (should there be any at all?) and it seems to accelerate well both low and on throttle, but my temps seem consistently between 215-240. When I pinch the fuel line, it cuts the engine in about 3-5 seconds, which I read is an indication that it is neither too rich nor lean, but was concerned about the temp. as I thought you should run about 200.
Should I be concerned?
Thanks for the help.

215-240 is fine.. the one thing you really don't want to do is tune to temp.as long as you are getting good smoke, and good throttle response you are good to go. you can use the temp gun to give a "ballpark" estimate. but as before, good smoke and good throtttle response= happy engine.

Try to learn to NOT! tune by temp. While it is a good idea to use temp as a rough guesstimate, total performance is your main goal. Learn how the engine runs best, top to bottom and in between. Engine temps are going to be affected by many things. Ambient temp, humidity, clean vs dirty air filter, etc etc etc. Performance is your best guage Do you race? Someone at your local track should be able to help you out on raceday

Great information, thanks!
I am going to race, but this is my first nitro car, hence first engine so I am probably being a little too by the bookish (is that a word ). I appreciate all the good info. and feedback.
