Default V Spec question

How can I tell if I have an updated model V Spec without taking the engine apart. Thanks!

look at the crankcase, the updated one looks similar to the OS speed. Go online find a Speed picture, then compare the bottom of the crankcase.

also on the newer version on the bottom of the case where the backplate screws in the "nubs" run the entire length of the case. the older versions "nubs" are just long enough for the screws to go into.

What's the difference? Is one better than the other. Looks like mine is the newer model.

The chances of comming across a nib old style v-specs is about 0. They sold through them over a year ago. There was a 2 month period last year when you couldnt find a v-spec anywhere because the ones were gone and the new ones were not ready.

the newer one has better rear bearings. the older ones had problems with the bearings leaking and going bad. also i think the newer ones have a silver backplate but i could be wrong on that.
