Default Why is 1/10scale Gas Truck down

Why is GT slowing down

I have my opinion and would hope someone could change my mind before I state mine. My thoughts are not favorable to some and hope I have over looked something that may change/correct my thinking.

So please chime in

People think bigger is better. It started with monster trucks and now its
truggies. I'm still going to race my 1/10th scale 2wd gas truck even if I have
race my self. The truck is so light, agile and fast; It's a joy to drive IMO.

I think that people are attracted to the visible speed of 1/8 and their size. What I mean by visible, is that a 1/10 might pull off the same lap time, an 1/8 looks like it is going faster. I also hear a lot of people say that 1/10 are too hard to drive because you have to actually have a clue as to what throttle control is and how to have a smooth racing line. With 1/8 it is point and shoot.

On my local scene everyone used to race 1/10th scales. However, they got tired of breaking parts & tearing up diffs. When they run 1/8th scale there are just fewer things to worry about going wrong even though theres more moving parts. I still love running 1/10th scales though, I don't crash & know how to maintain a diff. I think li//bl will change that though. Especialy if we start to see gear diffs in 2wd trucks.

10th scale is the second largest class behind buggy in the Minnesota Nitro Series (www.mnnitroseries.com and our server is down right now...lol). The class is very popular and will grow more this year. I would not be surprised if we saw 40 gas truck entries at the largest race. I would say we average about 28 gas truck entries per event.....not bad for the "dead" class

Thanks,
Casey

Pull trigger - Go fast.
See corner - turn wheel - pull trigger
See jump - Really pull trigger
See Fellow Racer - pull trigger don't bother turning wheel

I also think it is because 1/10th gas truck is harder to drive. Truggies are bigger, faster, and easier to drive.

Yep... everyone is "fast" with a 8lb 4wd car. It's much harder to get a 2wd around the track.

1/10 in general (electric) seems to be having a comeback of sorts... maybe soon we will be back to seeing 100+ entry club nights and sold out nats etc

I agree with everyone on here. Most of today's racers feel as if 1/10th scale racing is just too hard. But in defense I can ALMOST see where they are coming from when you have an 8lb missle that is almost impossible to break. Society just wants bigger, faster and easier vehicles to race. For the record I am being very generalistic and I LOVE 1/10th 2wd mod!

All I know is that the more laps you turn w/ a 2wd the faster you will be w/ a 1/8th scale.

Preach Brotha I fully agree. I run truggy and monster and may run buggy a bit this season, but while 1/10 is dying here, I still run them to keep what little ability i have sharp.

My offical opinion of the 1/10 class decline. two reasons;

1. Everyone wants easy, they like 4wd because they can get around the track without a spinout.
2. Bigger parts, the current generations are getting fat (look at the statistics) Bigger people bigger fingers, need to get bigger cars with bigger parts.

Sorry if people are offended, but thats my opinion

The reasons I see the decline in 10th scale is 3 fold.

1. There is no where near the recognition in winning a 10th scale national event as there is winning an 8th scale buggy or truggy race of the same caliber either in the US or World wide.

2. As stated before 10th scale 2wd takes allot more driving skill and if you make a mistake in 10th scale you have a greater chance of breaking it over the 8th scalers.

3. Most tracks are now being built for the bigger faster 8th scales and makes a boring drive with a 10th scale when most end up rolling the majority of the jumps as they are much harder or impossible to do for most.
