1/8th truggy engines
 

hey all:Now i know not evey rcer out there is a racer,but if most people who race truggies are using .21 engines for better fuel mileage and to save a few $$$ then why are a number of companies offering new race .28 truggy engines other than just another option in the marketplace?Thanks for the info :spidey:

many people have their own opinions when it comes to using .28 engines. For some the power of a .21 is more than enough, too much power can just make the car harder to drive which can hurt your laptimes not to mention the added fuel consumption. But there are instances where I saw that I had an advantage using the .28 cause I raced at a track wherein the bottom power was important and the car could handle the power. And for some lower end manufacturers, the .28 was created just to match the power of a .21 from a higher end manufacturer.

The .28 has not been in the market very long compared to the .21. So you can expect that the .28 engines will only get better and more fuel efficient.

Dont forget some people just want MORE POWER!:) Everyone has their own opinions about this and the manufacturers just wanna give the customers what they want.

I personnally like 21s for truggy, but i have a picco p3 team turbo with motor mounts and a complete clutch sitting in the box just in case.

cause the .28s will sell cause they have more power but dont rev up as high as quick as a .21
its all personal preferences;)

I run a LRP spec 3 .28 in my 8-T

I feel its the best value on the market for a .28

1st: holy shit that double engine looks sweet, ive never seen one of those before.

2nd: i also have a lrp .28 zspec... in my mugen mbx5 buggy, and man does that thing ever fly, its crazy rediculous fast, ive only gotten to drive it on the snow, and it will easily spin the tires doing top speed in a slippery parking lot, cant wait to see it on cement/grass.... and this is just a guess.. but im only getting like 6 mins run time from a 125cc tank :(

but for the $280 or so i paid for the lrp .28, its awesome, almost too much power, but still very very fun.

Im running a RB TM728 in my mugen truggy. its getting really good milage to me. yesterday we rean 6 min heats and i was coming off the track with just barely under 1/2 tank still. and loads of power. im just running a normal mugen filter with pre filter and a JP3 pipe.

FREELANCE_RCer: Im betting thats setup for onroad simply by the fact that its using a centax clutch and 2 speed setup.

what do air filters have to do with mileage?

i have a mugen air filter, lrp .28, and a jp4 pipe and like i said, 125cc of gas lasts like 6 or 7 mins :(

well they actually have alot to do with it. the amount of air coming in mixing with the right amount of fuel. your air fuel mixture has all to do with your fuel consumption. run a dirty air filter in a 1:1 car for a tank and then a clean 1 for a tank and tell me the difference.

do you use a pre filter or just the main barrel filter?

you dont have to buy "RC" brand air filter oil. for $2-$3 you can buy almost a quart of motorcycle foam air filter oil and its the same thing. instead of paying $10 or more on a few ounces just cause it has a RC manufacturers name on it. just thought id pass it along.
