Thumbs up My XB808 Buggy Build

Haven't seen a thread made for a kit build project, so here's my XB808 I bought at Fastcats last week at a very reasonable price of $599+taxes is well worth every penny. Talking to Pam and John they will be supplying many parts for this buggy!!

I was very impressed by the packaging allow and after opening the box I realized that this was going to take a while, so I made some coffee and laid out the bags...

first the diffs... standard assembly accept for the cups to cap and space the bearings in the case, should keep the bearings nice and clean! Also the direct CVD drive is a great feature

now the arms and sway bars assemblies. the premium high-grade graphite shock towers will reduce weight slightly, but to help strengthen the graphite; sand and apply CA glue to all the machined areas!

after the front and rear suspension parts are assembled double check you have used lock-tight where instructed and all fasteners are secure! Now install on the chassis...

the RX and battery box is the same as the XB8ec, although the graphite servo tray has been improved and redesigned. also notice that I've replaced the plastic center diff brace that the one off the XB8ec model... (the wing brace, fuel tank, complete center diff assembly) are all a direct fit!! and I bet theres more, I will post when I fine them!

and finally the shocks and the rubbers... during the build I used THIS setup sheet, for the better part its a general setup for most tracks we visit...

Sending the body out this week for some custom work and also hit the5 for some early practice and setup changes (if necessary) and get some videos posted of my new ride!!

Has anybody that has some time on there 808 noticed the front drive lines scrubbing the front out drive cups under full compression of the front susp.? I have noticed today the out drive cups are scrubbing the drives pretty bad . Do I need to install some fuel tubbing on the bottom of the shock shaft to limit the uptravel ? Or any other Ideas guys?

does the 808 come with a few sets of sway bars or just one?

also is there a right or wrong way to sand down the shock towers to ca them?

also is the wing mounted to the shock tower? if so won't that put alot of stress on the shock tower if you land on the wing?

Yea the drive shafts .You my not see anything if your shocks are located in the lower set of holes on the shock tower .Mine are located top center hole on the shock tower, inner hole on the arm.I'm pretty sure that is the set up out of the manual .

Ok, yeah. now I see. the front out-drives are chaffing the drive shafts at full compression. I think I'm gonna put 2 O'rings at the bottom of the shock shaft to limit the down travel about 1mm should be enough.

I have my front shocks in the upper farthest out hole, so it's as low as it can go. inner hole on the arm

It comes with one set of sway bars. One set of springs, no wheels or tires.

sand the sharp edge off the graphite, not too much, and apply some tire glue to it. thin glue soaks in a bit, so let it dry after one application. then reapply. the thin stuff will flow down the edge, so apply it and rotate the part as the glue starts to run down the edge, this allows you to get a smooth rounded edge.

and the wing mount it screwed to the rear shock tower, but the rear chassis brace is directly opposite the wing mount, and the shock from a crash is diffused by the chassis brace.

the only wierd thing about the kit is the left hand threaded screw for the right front lower shock mount, and left rear lower shock mount. I didn't think there was much of an issue there, but better safe than sorry I guess!

I wouldn't mind at all, however, I am no designer. So far KCDZIM has been designing my designs in photoshop, and sending me the file so that I can copy it to the shell and paint. If you want, contact me via PM if you still want something done. Im cheap ;-)

Yes I noticed this, I also noticed my back driveline is rubbing on my engine mount flange.
