The spurs are 41 tooth or 43 tooth according to the pics on neo buggy.
I was about to order a ec, but I didnt expect info this soon on the 808 so I told my LHS to preorder me one asap. Im not the kind of person who usually jumps on the OMG its new bandwagon. I figured WTH though

the concerns here are vary reasonable but heres a few facts for you just as an fyi
but the front end as far as caster blocks and steering hub design has been used on 4 other cars to date two of which are NOT losi vehicles and there may be more. the cvd design that i guess is now used on the losi where the bearings capture the pins was NOT originated on the losi. the very first touring car made by hudy used this style of cvd/bearing combo(dont know the proper wording). i do agree with the "looks losi" comment but hudy did go the extra mile and incorporate alot of other unique features, like the mud gards and etc. It will undoubtedly be an awsome car. If i have learned anything in the RC industry its not who can reinvent the wheel the best but who can refine it and make it better. Hudy did just that
just take a look at the mugen and Kyosho and EC and many othe cars out ther right now (All great cars by the way and excluding the eight and the rc8). i am willing to bet that if you bust out a set of calipers you can probably get the exact same setup on four or five cars all made by different manufacuters. All the cars have been cookie cut outs of each other for the past few years.
All i can say is this.... if he car has the durability of the EC and past models alongsied the upgrades and part support it will definitely be one of the best if not THE best car on the market. only time will tell and i wouldnt start looking for it till the end of march beginning of april

I actually know about Hudy, not Xray. All my stuff I have say Hudy also, XRay to me is the newbie. Can you 100% say they Xray/Hudy can or will not outsource their spring steel items to lower costs? And as for knowing Hudy spring steel, I've used it since the Serpent Excel 9000 MKII 1/8 onroad cars. The brown color on the steel turns dark once it sees use. If it doesn't anymore, they have changed the steel composition. Any old Serpent guy will tell you the same thing.
...
...
The car looks sweet but Hudy should drop this "self-developed" signature steel crap. How much of that spring steel they use a year a ton maybe??? Ask any steel supplier if they did special orders of 1 tons of steel... Try 50

Believe me the coating changing color has nothing to do with the steel composition under it.

Car has an optional 41T, 42T or 43T spur gear and the Clutch bells are 15T , 16T and 17T. They are using truggy ring & pinions (43/10) for a lower ratio in the diffs (just like the RC8 and what the factory Mugen drivers have been doing using the MBX5T diffs in the MBX5R with a 44T spur and 16T or 17T pinion). I believe you'll see the same thing in the next Kyoshp and I'm 99.9% sure the MBX6 will have truggy gears in the diffs. It allows for lighter drive train parts, lower CG and with the smaller spur the motor can be brought in more to the center line for better balance. The larger tooth count on the clutch bells are smoother too. Mugen used plastic molded braces on their MBX5T and the next MBX6 will have shortened versions.
As for price, I hear this Xray may be cheaper than the last, so it should do well. I like it!

I had posted earlier that I thought the diff postition was the same as others but I think I'm wrong. Looking more closely it appears that they are using the bell/spur sizes to move the diff further over and still get the rear center drive shaft to clear the engine.

Yes, I thought also that it was reversed like the Losi, but its in the normal direction, but the drivetrain and engine are postioned just like the Losi. The engine is moved to the right right and forward and the diff and axles are offset along with the servo postions. They moved everything to get the weight centered and more weight on the front wheels. If you go to the XRAY and go through the Flash presentation, you'll see the animated changes.

It looks like the other "trick" they used to achieve that was the recessed CVD's it allows the driveshaft to take a longer, less steep angle to the gear case. So far, I think I like everything about this buggy.
I still have an EC for sale.

The 808 will be a awesome buggy. Xrays quality with improvements !!

This gives me time to save up for a new truggy

I'll hold off on the XT8 now

Just think, if they're any bugs, you can just buy the 808 TQ in 3 months.
Or the R 3 months after that.
There is no way the magic "spring steel" is exclusive. It would not be financially viable for either the steel manufacturer or Hudy to get it made in such small quantities (relatively small).
