I am new to racing, so i go out and practice for hours at a time, and i always need to change out batteries. Maybe I will start by going back to the switch with no charge jack, that will help some with the dust, but I just think its too tight, and definitely a pain in the butt to get the lid on and off the battery housing. I guess I could switch to hump pack, and move the receiver to the battery box, but I would rather a totally different RX box, that I could seal up good with silicone, and then screw down the battery like my Hyper's use to take. Maybe I will take it all out, and see what may fit. I could just drill new holes in the chassis if I had to, and use a different box.

It is a bit cramped, but that's part of keeping the weight down. I don't change my rx pack, I just charge it after every run. I'm going to buy a new one and cycle it a couple of time for the Pro Series finals in Texas.

I definatly think putting a new box in would be a bad idea. first off you'd mess with the balance of the vehicle, an also a new box might not fit under the body. Don't forget that your radio tray bolts onto the side of the box, you might mess up more than you think.

That's just my 6 cents worth opinion.

i got a lemon V-spec, leaking from everywhere, cracked crankcase. I needed to replace the case, the bearings, and seal it up like a virgin in prison. I've hated it from day one, and I am just waiting for it to die, so I can switch to Picco, which I have in my Truggy, and I love it.

I actually use a Hyper .21 8-port for practice in my Buggy, and IMO that crappy $120 engine puts the V-spec to shame.

man, you did get a lemon. Mine has worked great for the past 7 gallons. no leaks, I'm almost afraid that now I said something, it's gonna blow at the finals.

I hope it lasts 20 gallons for you, so you never have to buy another one! When i contacted OS about the problems, they told me to piss off, no warantee, nothing they would do, so Never again, does OS get my money

Sorry to hear your v-spec woes. I got about 4 gal from mine before the rod wore enough to affect tune. But when it was running it felt just like my jammin motor only 2 min more run time. Nobody (MFG) warrantys race motors but ofna (distributor) warr a bearing in my original Picco P-7. I dont run their car anymore but proudly wear the OFNA t-shirt & hat they gave me. I hear anybody talk crap about OFNA I tell them to stuff it & why. Too bad OS cant get people to do that. I will however still run their motor when I get around to ordering a rod.

Sorry just had to come back & edit,I forgot about the picco that came in my crt .5. It had an air bubble(porosity) in the side of the case when I opened the box & OFNA took care of that no questions asked also. When a company, picco or any other makes a couple thousand parts theres bound to be some that get through to me & you. Someone like big Dave at OFNA that takes care of it is the difference.Commercial is now over.Someone please take my soap box.

I hear all you said, and then some. I have raced and bashed Ofna products since I first started in the Hobby 7 years ago. between Ofna, and Nitrohouse, you can ALWAYS! get what you pay for. The service at both places is second to none, same with Rc America. And after all this time, the only people who get my money, are the people who treat me like I'm the most important person on the planet. What can we do to help you!? There's something you just dont get anymore from the majority of the retailers out there. The few that are like that, Ofna, Nitrohouse, RCXRAY, RC America. Those are the ones I shop with.

XLgraphics, I bought the V-spec from A-main, and they told me to call OS. Since neither of them stepped up and took care of me, neither of them gets another dime of my money!

Most definitely will not be a next time. I'll stick to Jammin/Picco engines. Less money, same power,100% warranty. (unless its my fault of course)

Thats too bad you had such bad luck with them. All my OS's are great engines. I'm just the opposite, Ive tried picco with no success. Just finicky to tune or hold attune I thought. I guess this is a whole other thread though.

the v-spec's have no warentee it says so in the manual so for getting mad at them for telling you that is nonsence. If the case cracked it probley had something to do with the motormounts being too close to the case and a hard landing. The os motors are very strong and run good. there is a reason they have won the worlds soo many times.

Please dont start defending OS, without knowing all the facts! I never ran the engine! So I could not have cracked the case! It would not start, so I had to tear it apart, and flux test, which revealed a hairline crack along the seam. It was not manufactured properly, and never started or ran! OS didn't even want to hear my story, they just blew me off. I am sure this happens with other companies, and engines also, but there is a huge difference between no warantee, and faulty manufacturing, so dont asume to tell me what's nonsense and what's not. i'm not the type of person who bashes people or starts fights with no reason

if that was the case then you should have sent it in to the address in the manual and they would have replaced the case. The manufacture can tell when there has been no fuel in the motor. They would have taken care of it.
