They held up very well. Our truggy comes with the same style composite pin mounts and after all of the truggies we've sold, I bet we sell about 40 truggies to 1 set of composite pin holders, and thats usually just to the hobby shops so they can have parts on the wall, we get very few repeat orders for the composite parts in general, the stuff just doesn't break!
Yes, the kits will have the composite pin holders, but like I said above, the stuff just doesn't break. After running and tearing the car down to really look closely at everything, they did everything they could to lighten the car as much as possible, even the brake cams are machined out of aluminum instead of steel, just to save weight! They continued the weight savings with the plastic hinge pin holders as well as making setup easier on the weekend racers.
I only put the aluminum hinge pin holders on so I could make geometry changes very quickly and for ease of maintenance. This way when I get out to my local track, I just take 2 screws out, change and insert and throw it back down on the track.
What's funny is I wound up running the same geometry as I did with the stock composite hinge pin holders...
OK Rocco, what's the deal with the aluminum vs plastic hinge pin holders .X-Ray is going to sell the kit with the plastic ones that could break or bend and with the plastic ones you lose the adjustablity.I have heartburn that the aluminum ones are not going to come with the kit,yes I know the kit would be more money but I don't need to pay for the plastic ones on top of having to buy the aluminum ones.I always liked the X-ray because it always came with all the best stuff. I know its a marketing deal were the car looks like a good deal at first until you buy all the stuff that you normaly got with the Xray then its not so great of a deal. The one question I have if the plastic is so great why did everyone with 808's show up at Silver State with aluminum ones? Thanks

Yes, since XRAY is really targeting US style tracks with this car, we have really been working on a good base setup that shouldn't be too far from what will work universally. As I stated in my last post, I wound up running the stock geometry from when i got the car, and I almost don't have to think to drive the car around the track, so hopefully I can press the XRAY guys in Europe do something close to my setup for the box stock setup, as it is very neutral and forgiving. I got made fun of up here at work when I replied to their questions of how it drove with: "It's like driving with cheat codes!" haha

If a racer wanted to aluminum for ease of adjustably, like you said, does the XB8 one fit? Or is there a new design for the 808. What will the cost be if so?
Thanks Rocco ....
Thanks Rocco ....

Haha. Having trouble beating your vid games then?
Thanks for the reply. Right now thats how my TC5 drives and my Losi 8 is almost that way to me. Your right about the average club racer, too many options makes it hard. I don't mind spending almost all of race day tweaking my onroads, but in offroad where they get very dirty, I like a setup that works well just about everywhere, and I can concentrate on getting to know the track more than setup. However, I'll change things if I know it will be a tight race with the other drivers.

May we all know what's the rolling chassis' weight? Thanks!

Composite chassis braces have been used on all of the XB8 derivatives, including the XT8. The TQ came with both composite and aluminum ones, the EC only came with composite. Same for the XT8.

Yes, the 808, EC and XT8 will have the composite chassis braces, but we're talking about the composite hinge pin holders.

so what is it with a body. What is it ready to go racing, fueltank empty

It is tought to put a number on a car's weight because of all the variables from one setup to another (battery type, different engines/pipes, servos, etc.) The new car is supposed to be 200g lighter which is about 1/2 pound. That's alot.
