Default Engine Recommendation

So I have a MP5 and MP6 from the good old days I am going to bring back to life. Been 4 or more years since I have been doing this and I am wondering what you guys would recommend for an engine? Looking for a solid 1/8 off road motor that is easy to tune, break in and wont flame out for anything. I ran Picco's in the past but after reading a bunch of posts on this site it looks like the Jammin .21 might be the ticket??

Thanks for the input!!

O.S V-spec. Easiest to tune motor on the planet, and I've never flamed out with mine. I'm on my second one right now, it's barely broke in due to the cold weather. It runs well even if you tuned it badly.

and if you have the money buy the O.S. SPEED version of the motor!

Thanks!! Do you have a recommendation on where to purchase via internet? What is better with the SPEED version?

So I see the V Spec for $300 and the SPEED version for $500. Is it worth the extra $200? Any thoughts on a pipe?

the speed has a weighted crank for a smoother power delivery.
also the ports are different. the speed revs to the moon with a os2060 pipe.
But this combo is 440 motor and 110 for the pipe. thats 550 for the combo

I would look for a stock vspec and an os 2050 or JP3 pipe
270 stock vspec
100 OS 2050 pipe
70 Jammin JP3 pipe
So the motor with os 2050 is 380.00
The diff between the
jp3 has a bigger midrange hit and has a higher peak HP
os 2050 is a smoother power band with almost the same peak HP and better fuel mileage.

OS Vspec and if you can get the speed its a awesome motor so is the vspec but the speed basically has more power smoother and longer run time then the stock vspec but either one is good

You can get the OS Speed for better prices than that. You can get the OS Speed and 2060 pipe set for just about what you listed the OS Speed for only.

I had alot of troubles with the Jammin' 21, I love their products however mine had a warped head button and a hairline crack in the crank case making it nearly impossible to properly tune or keep running. About 4 other local guys had similar issues. We may have got a bad batch in at the LHS as I had one of the first ones available. However, before I started encountering these problems (After I started running it on the track) It broke in great, good temps, What appeared to be decent runtime coupled with a JP3 and not short on power by any means.

After I had that little issue I Purchased a VZB V Spec and couldnt be happier. I put 5 gallons on it last season and never had a single issue. It's the most reliable engine I have ever seen... Idles like a dream, produces awesome power, and has outstanding run time. As far as pipes go, its been suggested to look at the OS 2050 and 2060 WN. These are both great pipes, the 2050 has a little more oomph while the 2060 has a smoother power band. I was getting around 8-9 min/tank running in the 250-260 *F range. if you want to increase your runtime try out the JP3, worked awesome on every track I used it on and an average of 9-11 (starting to lean on the top side of 11 min) min/tank for me (Temping at 245-255 for these figures)... however, the JP3 seemed to sacrifices a little bit of power when compared to the 2050/2060 in my experiences.
