Kyosho STRR Discussion

Anyone who can give provide me feedbacks about the STRR? Just keep the discussion on the car. Handling, setup???? Skip the price matter.......;)

You might need to change the fuel tank. They have been breaking at my local track. The chassis flexes and cracks it. I would say use upgraded chassis braces and run the tank o-rings and slightly loose. The local guys have been modding the Jammin truck tanks to fit. Seems to work for them right now.

they have been breaking a lot of front end parts as well(arms, hubs, cast knuckles) from what I hear from a few peeps

great truck...

I have had a few trucks and this one is well suited for me. I had a mugen, xray, jammin. The tank did have an issue, but some foam underneath it solved that problem and they are making a running change to have a thicker tank bottom... Also the arms have broken and hubs too for some. I broke a hub but its still an awesome truck. I am faster with it, first time out. It actually does what you want it to.

Thanks dudes. Now I know what to expect when I get it. I'm not surprised about the knuckle failing. Had this problem with my 777 recently on both knuckles. The tank issue is new to me. Must be the result of longer chassis. Anyhow, time to keep the spares even for the arms...... many thanks again:tire::tire:

If your racing where the outside temps are cold you might want to boil the arms. I done that with mine and so far so good on them.

How long do you boil the arms?

Kasmir 01-14-2008 08:19 PM

I done mine for about 15 min.

i been running my truck for a while now.. i had the STR, and no issues what so ever, except for the diff gears, which have been upgraded with the STRR, i broke one gas tank.. one left front arm, and one caster block.. i have not broke anything other than that.. i been driving the truck for long time now.. it is up to STRR specs now.. with the exception of drive shafts..

Interesting tip. No cold temps in my country. temps are in the high 20 deg C...

put a piece of tire foam under the tank, and it will be the last tank you need

khoo 01-21-2008 07:40 AM

Guys, I'm about to finish building my trug. Exactly which part of the tank that you have experience breakage?

aznitronut 01-21-2008 08:15 AM

Usually, its around the seam, on either side, towards the front, or near the front mount.

dgrobe2112 01-21-2008 11:22 AM

mine broke at the seam.. towards the front..

khoo 01-24-2008 07:37 AM

Thanks guys. :) I'll loosen up the front screw to give the tank more play
