1/8 buggy slicks
 

Just checking to see if anyone has ran slicks on their buggy. I know that Panther is selling some in clay compound. Just wondering how they worked.

Running? I never even heard of slicks for buggies. Are they for clay tracks? Blue groove I guess.

I ran slicks at the Japanese Nationals this past November and through out the year as needed. What I've found is on wet hardpacked tracks that are slick to walk on the slicks work great. The idea is that you need to put some rubber on the ground in order to get traction. When the track drys out just a little Inside jobs work better and as the track gets dusty and still is a bit damp Holeshots.

Earlier in the year we would use Kyosho soft slicks. For the Nationals we would take M3 Inside Jobs and sand the tread off. You can find pictures of Hara sanding his tires on Neo Buggy. I believe he used Losi Taper Pins in Pink as the basis for his slicks.

So based on this you do not need to purchase slicks, just use a pair of old tires that have good foam and make your own. When tracks are really wet the tread fills up on all tires. The slicks don't allow this and keep the rubber on the dirt. You can also sand grooves in the rubber or only sand half a tire. Now think of the endless possibilities.

For those that say no way is this possible, all you need to do is give it a try.

I forgot to mention. When your able to run slicks the traction is incredible even when the track is anything but ideal. Remember, wet conditions slicks work great.

Yep. slicks are awesome. Wait till you need slicks for a 1/10 gas truck, or 1/10 electric truck/buggy. It's amazing how much the slicks will hook up in the conditions described by kmorast. I always keep a pair of slicks for each vehicle.

yea i saw this recently in some pics from one of the major races, bit weird at first but makes scence to use slicks in wet.

will most definatly try this next time when it rains.:D
