motor for my CEN Matrix
 

Hey all, I have a CEN Matrix buggy it is the RTR version but I no longer have the stock motor, I want to get back into off road. my question is, what is the best economical motor (under $200) I just want to do some local club racing at Leisure Hours every once in a while. I want a motor that is easy to tune and has good reliability, I dont need one with a pull start becasue I still have my starter box

al leisure hours i ran my novarossi p5. its over 200 but i also ran an os vg wich did good but i hear the motor to look at is the werks b3 pro

also the go tech 5 port or the os vg. great motor choices but for an indoor motor i would run the werks b3 if i had to choose out of all of them. also nitrotoyz is based out of illinois so you will have the engine within a day or 2

nova bf21 , rb s3, go tech 5 port, see good things with the werks engines but at the same time those guys are pretty good engine tuners. another would be a dynamite platinum and i have also seen the thunder tiger 21 pro look pretty decent and it is under 120. only 2 i know about longevity would be the nova and the rb engines.....both are very solid

the thing with the werks engines is that the break in period is long and they really open up after a gallon of fuel. i ran the thunder tiger engine and it screamed but it only lasted 4 gallons.

you can rebuild it though pretty cheap...you can get the engine piston, sleeve wrist pin and con rod for under 200.

Go Tech 5port for around $200, but if you want to spend even less the Go 3port sport is a great value at $120...

the AXE Mamba is $199 at A-main with free shipping, AXE doens't get the recognition like the other brands, but they make some of the highest quality engines out there, they last forever, I've heard upwards of 10 gallons if you watch the bearings and replace them before they go, plus the Mamba is a 7 port so will have alot more power than the 3 port budget engines, and it gets good millage, I get around 7min on a tank and I generally get crappy millage because of my driving style, tungsten inserts in the crank for balancing, heat insulation on the carb, its got alot more features than the other budget stuff,

because of the price and I want to get better at off road racing with a chap motor, then upgrade after a while to a higher end RB or something

I have heard that the Matrix feels under powered under with a 21 size engine. The Matrix is a heavy truck at 10 LBS. Go 28. If you have already ordered the engine give a report.

hink he has the buggy and not the truggy......

yeah it is the buggy NOT the truggy, I have one more question though, can I use the stock pipe or should I upgrade it?

if you mean will the stock pipe bolt up, yes it should work fine, if your talking performance, can't help you since I've never used it, but I can't see why it woudn't work fine thgouh, I've never heard anyone complain about it, especailly if you mostly worried about driving technique for now,

Since there is local support for both Cen and Go Tech at Leisure Hours you should "Go" with Go. (pun intended :lol: )

I ran my 3 port at LH again last night and I just love it. Because the traction is so incredible, I actually prefer it over my 5 port. The 3 port has AMAZING snap.
