what do you all clean after race day? i clean the arms and stuff without takeing anything off but i always clean the engine in and out after a race, then when the everything else gets really dirty i do a whole strip down

Jason Halvorson 12-06-2007 07:44 PM

i pull the engine, radio trey and fuel tank spray it down with simple green then blow off with compressed air, when thats done i spray the entire bug/trug down with WD-40...

imaxx21 12-06-2007 07:45 PM

I go home, put my stuff in the storage locker, take a shower, get a beer and tell my woman to make me something to eat. On Tuesday I might bring my stuff in a start cleaning it. Maybe not....

Hi imaxx21, do you get any rust? I have been wanting to spray mine down with water too, but worried my bearing and other metals will rust.

I pay my mechanic to clean and rebuild my car. Cleaning includes bearing cleaning, CVD cleaning, polishing all metals, washing plastic parts, etc . Basically he tear down the car almost completely, clean the whole things, and rebuild it from ground up.

I clean & rebuild the engine myself...... I don't trust him.

When the car arrive, it does look like new.

Impossible, because if they did that, it would mean this would be a perfect world. And there is no such thing as a perfect world. :(

i strip it simple "G" it rebuild it and WD-40 it:tire::tire::tire:

Drew Manzella 12-08-2007 09:11 AM

  1. Remove wheels/tires
  2. Remove engine/exhaust
  3. Remove gas tank
  4. Use paintbrush to "dust off" the car
  5. Use compressed air and a toothbrush to get the rest clean
  6. Remove all 3 diffs
  7. Rebuild all 3 diffs
  8. Do a "nut & bolt" on the whole car to make sure everything is tight
  9. Re-Loctite critical hardware
  10. Pull clutch bell and inspect clutch shoes/springs - replace/deburr as necessary
  11. Check glue bead on tires - reapply as necessary
  12. Re-install engine/exhaust/gas tank
  13. Replace glow plug
  14. Replace air filter
  15. Check all radio harnesses/wires/plugs and reseat them in the receiver
  16. Respray car with silicone spray
  17. Clean body
  18. Rinse, lather, repeat

NO I don't ever tear the engine down. Just dump after-run in and make sure it is at BDC.
