Default diff oil question?

hey guys. I have had to pull my diffs apart a couple of times for various reasons, and my question is. Is the diff oil ment to turn into a grease like substance after a while? Every time i redo my diffs, the clear oil that i put in them has turned into a thick black grease, is that normal?

thanks

How long are you waiting to pull them apart? If you run the diff fluid to long it will turn black.

last change was about 4lts ago.

So if its normal, a thinner diff fluid will just turn into a less dense grease?

thanks again

If your diffs were filled with grease and they have not been cleaned carefully and then you filled them with fluid. Fluid may turn to greasy thing...

If the oil has turned black then it's burned, you should be changing the diff fluid out after every race weekend or every half gallon (2 liters) to maintain consistent diff action and protection to the diff gears.

Default Hmmmm

It depends on the car. I had a kyosho that had softer gears inside the diff and they changed the diff oil quickly, but if the gears are hard steel then every 4-5 race days, Mugen, etc...... It's ok for the oil to turn a bit, or you could go a bit thicker on the oil....Especially in the center diff......
