8ight on starter box

well, I just bought a lrp starter box but when i went to start my losi 8ight the wheel thing on the starter box wouldn't reach the fly wheel on my 8ight. I'm using an os vspec if that helps.

I'm guessing here, but maybe the whole starter wheel assembly needs to be spaced up off the floor a bit. Try putting some washers under there and see how that works out. I don't own the box but it sounds like a simple fix.

Also, does your 8ight have the kit engine mounts? Or is this with the silver RTR engine mounts? The RTR engine mounts are taller than the kit mounts to allow the EZ-Start backplate.

+1 for air8

if you have the RTR you need to buy the Pro Motor mounts.
I have a new set if you need them let me know in a PM.

Note that some starter boxes have a wheel that is too large for the Losi chassis hole.

Isn't it true that you have to grind down the 8ight chassis a little bit, even with the Losi starter box? I don't own the car, but that's what a buddy of mine with an 8ight said....

I am not for sure about the Losi box but I do know that you have to dremel the chassis. Take your dremel with a sanding bit and elongate and widened the flywheel slot. Also bevel the edges why you are at it so that you don't cut your fingers when you are shutting off your buggy. Hope this helps.

I use a losi starter box with the 8ight buggy. It lines up perfect without grinding anything.

Kyosho makes a starter box that has the same 2 550 motor design as everybody else, but it has a small wheel that will reach up through the small chasis cutout hole on the losi. I use the Kyosho box for my AD2 and it works like a champ.

mines like this too, the flywheel is like a half inch above the hole in the chassis.

do you have a pull start on it?

mine is because i have a pull starter on it, and a pull start backplate, and engine mounts for a PS engine, once i get the proper engine mount, and take the PS backplate off and put a normal one, it should lower it by about .5 inches, thus being able to touch the starter box wheel.
